Clueless Gamer - Conan reviews Watch Dogs

clueless gamer conan reviews watch dogs
Conan are not the best of Gamers. But his funny as hell xD

I just stepped right into this big digital shitstorm on Youtube. Yes, i´m of course talking about Ubisofts hacker/sandbox/action game "Watch Dogs". A game which the video game media hypéd to death. And now that the game has hited the market.

The reviews has started to drop in (one by one). And, well. The average score for  Watch Dogs are the following via Gamerankings.com:

PS4 - 82.71%
PS3, - 75%
PC and Xbox One - 77,50%

That´s no bad grades really. But it´s not great either. And from what i´ve heard. Watch Dogs are far from revolutionary. In fact, media in Sweden says that even GTA4 are better than Watch Dogs. So the whole thing about the "digital shit storm", it´s basically a fight between GTA and Watch Dogs fanboys.

But i´ll leave it at that. Because i haven't played the PS4 edition yet (just the PC-version). At least Conan (aka the Clueless Gamer) had a blast with Watch Dogs xD

Mighty No. 9 - The very first gameplay trailer

mighty no 9
Mighty No. 9 will be released sometime during Spring next year.

Keiji Inafune and his new studio Comcept Inc hit the jackpot on Kickstarter with their game "Mighty No.9" last year. Because Mighty No. 9 collected almost 4 million dollars in total ($3.8 million to be exact). And Comcept Inc has finally released the very first gameplay trailer for Mighty No. 9.

So, please enjoy it! There´s also another Youtube video. Where Keiji Inafune talks to his team about Mighty No. 9 (i think he jokes about his days at Capcom as well) But it´s all in Japanese i´m afraid...

So when i stod there face to face with the Alien queen in Aliens Infestation.I knew that hell would break loose. But i´m not going to spoil it for you guys.

Nekro - Outcast part 3 - It´s hammer time!

nekro part 3
Stop It´s hammer time!

It´s been quite a while since i played Nekro. But i really feelt like i wanted to play some Nekro today. Because i heard that DarkForge games had updated Nekro (again).
And the latest version of Nekro sure offers quite a lot of new things.

Like the fact that a lot of the enemies have become both smarter and deadlier.
Just take the big hammer dudes for example. Before the new update, you can take care of them rather easy. But now, they can toss their hammer in your face.

They can also stun you (if you get to near). I also noticed that DarkForge has added a really cool partyzone on stage III (you will understand what i mean when you watch our video).

Anyhow, please enjoy the video folks =)

Playstaton Plus update July - Mixed feelings

playstation plus
What is love? baby dont hurt me, don´t hurt me no more!

North American PS Plus subscribers have a lot of mixed news to look forward to, this coming June. For starters Sony will be changing the way that they have configured the Instant Game Collection. In the past the games you downloaded from PS Plus would stay in your collection for an arbitrary and undetermined amount of time.

Starting in July however, Sony will adopt a structured schedule for arrivals and departures. New additions to the Instant Game Collection will be available from the first Tuedsday of the current month until the first Tuesday of the following month, where it will rotate out with the next title.

Now that we have a set schedule to get the games we want each month without delay, Sony has also announced that there will be two games available each month for the Playstation 3, Playstation 4, and the Playstation Vita.

Sony also mentioned on the Playstation Blog, that many alumni titles on the Instant Game Collection will be gradually removed over the next few weeks. But as we already know from past experience, once the game is added to your own collection, it is yours as long as you remain a Playstation Plus subscriber.

What this will mean for those who begin the download, and back out just to keep it in the history for later is that it will no longer be present when the time elapses. So as of July that feature will be patched unfortunately.

Red Dead Redemption could be getting a sequel

red dead redemption
Will there ever be a Red Dead Redemption 2? Only Rockstar and Take-Two knows the answer to that question.

Fans of Red Dead Redemption have been urging for a PC port, and another installment in the series. Unfortunately, Take-Two and Rockstar have yet to deliver on either of the requests, but recent comments from Take-Two’s CEO make at least the latter seem to be apparent.

At the Cowen and Company Analyst conference, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick spoke about the company’s strategy of being extremely selective concerning what games it releases, unlike many of its publishing competitors, which flood the market with all sorts of content in hopes of hitting every demographic.

“The risk of just [releasing more games] is that you end up just bulking up your release schedule and that isn’t really what consumers want. Consumers want better, not more,” stated the CEO. “So our selective approach, which we’ve taken since ’07 I think has paid off. Now, we have gotten more by taking that approach; we’ve launched one new successful franchise every year and I would like to keep doing that particularly because I talk about permanent franchises, but not everything is going to be a permanent franchise. Some of our great franchises eventually will lose their luster and some will hopefully be permanent.”

Zelnick referenced games such as Borderlands, Grand Theft Auto, and Red Dead as permanent franchises. The only problem with this is that Borderlands and Grand Theft Auto have already had sequels, and additional online content published for them, whereas Red Dead Redemption has not, since 2011.

“I pretty much know the ones that I can assure you are permanent. It’s obvious that GTA is a permanent franchise as long as we keep delivering this incredible quality; it seems quite obvious that Red Dead is a permanent franchise, again with the same caveat, or Borderlands, for example, and NBA and others,” - Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick

It’s interesting that Zelnick chose to point out Red Dead as a permanent franchise. Though Rockstar has been very quiet on the Red Dead series, the sales reports and the fan base more than prove that the series is in need of a sequel, or a new story in the Wild West.

Many fans who have love for Rockstar understand that with the recent success of Grand Theft Auto, they must make that the priority, yet others would disagree.

Are you in agreement with the CEO?, or do you have a different view? Let us know.

Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures 2

pac man and the ghostly-adventures 2
Whatever happend to the good ol´ version of Pac-Man?

Holy jumping mother of god...I don´t even know where to begin with this one. Well, i just watched Namco Bandai´s release trailer for their upcoming game "Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures 2" (for 360, PS3, 3DS and Wii U). And, well. It feelt like they have transformed Pac-Man into a damn Frankensteins monster.

Sure, i have never played the original game. But from what i can tell. The original Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures had a 58-66% average grade (depending on format). So something tells me that part II won´t get much better.

Oh well, time will tell i guess. Anyhow, Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures 2 are sett for a release by the end of this year sometime (2014 Q4).

About Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures 2:
"The gang is back! Following the colorful characters and world of the PAC-MAN and the Ghostly Adventures animated series, PAC-MAN and the Ghostly Adventures 2 will feature PAC-MAN, Spiral and Cylindria in an all-new storyline as they defend PacWorld from the ghoulish army of Lord Betrayus."

Features:
- New and Distant Worlds: Journey to Outer Space and back through time to Prehistoric World while still battling Betrayus and his ghoulish army in Pacworld and Netherworld.
- New Characters: Encounter new friends and enemies from Seasons 1 &2 of the hit Animation Series
- New and Improved Power Ups: Enjoy enhanced power ups from the first game along with brand new power ups helping PAC become larger than life!

Guilty Gear XRD coming this fall to PS3 and PS4

guilty gear xrd logo
Believe it or not. But Guilty Gear XRD uses Epic´s Unreal Engine 3.

Aksys has confirmed that Guilty Gear XRD SIGN will retain some of the franchise's signature systems, such as Roman Cancels, but that many of these systems have been "significantly expanded and improved."

Arc System Works beautifully rendered 2D art, and animations will again be a focal point of the game, and Daisuke Ishiwatari, the famous Guilty Gear composer himself, is again in charge of the soundtrack.

Being described as a fighting game that uses cell-shaded 3D animations instead of sprites, the characters have undergone some changes in design. Ishiwatari has confirmed that the characters, effects, and backgrounds are rendered in full 3D. It is built on the Unreal Engine. The game has been currently announced for a PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 and slated for release in fall of 2014.

I´m quite sure that we can expect some pretty crazy combos in Guilty Gear XRD.

Story:
In the year 1999, mankind completed the scientific theory of limitless energy, dubbed magic. However, man did not discard his ignorance upon obtaining this wisdom. The very magic meant to usher in world peace was instead leveraged as a tool of war, and in time the forbidden biological weapons known as Gears were created. As if to condemn these thoughtless deeds, the Gears developed a will of their own and turned their fangs upon humanity.

The Crusades, a centuries-long struggle for survival against the Gears, finally ended when mankind sealed away the Destroyer, Justice. Though man emerged victorious, many threats yet loom large in the shadows of that hard-fought peace, threatening to engulf the world. And so mankind must continue to atone for the sin of magic.

There was not a single individual, organization, or country that took this as a laughing matter. This was on account of the prior Baptism 13 Incident, during which the United Kingdoms of Illyria were invaded, for the herald of that onslaught had also referred to herself as Valentine.

Now, in order to ascertain the truth of these events, the world takes action.

Nintendo announces Gamecube adapter for the Wii U

gamecube adapter
Finally i have some use for my old Gamecube controllers.

Nintendo has announced an Adapter for the Nintendo Gamecube controller for the Wii U. This isn’t necessarily a big surprise, as one would hope that Nintendo would allow all the controllers to be used on the iconic brawler Super Smash Bros. It was unveiled at the end of the Super Smash Bros. invitational trailer and it has already generated a lot of buzz.

gamecube adapter 2
Pretty awesome huh?

Featuring over 30+ characters on its roster thus far, Super Smash Bros. is coming back with a very vibrant bang. Since 1999 Nintendo has continued to surprise us with their announcements of featured titles, and this time is no different. How long Nintendo can make the long dead Nintendo Gamecube carry on is a mystery, as other consoles have never followed suit to date since 2006 with the Playstation 3.

With E3 right around the corner, and everyone’s hopes high for the newest installment of Super Smash Bros. a lot still remains to be revealed. Stay with us as we look forward to Nintendo’s digital broadcast, and their E3 performance.

Aliens Infestation - Part 2 - Save the space marine babes!

aliens infestation part2
It´s your job to keep the marines alive!

The more i play Aliens Infestation. The more i like it. And it´s actually quite creepy as well (i play it in a very dark room). But that´s exactly how a Aliens game should be.And the music are really scary as well.

So i have to say that Wayforward really nailed the Aliens feeling in Infestation.
I just wish that i had picked up this game way back in 2011. But for some odd reason.

There was no commercial ads or such for the game in Sweden (at least i have no memory of it).
Anyhow, in part II i finally face the Xenomorphs (aliens).

And, well. Let´s just say that things went from bad to worse in the blink of an eye.

Battlefield Hardline - A Battlefield spin off

battlefield hardline
Will BF Hardline take the BF experience to the next level?

EA did indeed leak its own Battlefield spin off, in the form of Battlefield Hardline. The development team of Visceral Games will be handling the project instead of Dice leading us to believe that an ace is up the sleeve of EA. But why go with police S.W.A.T instead of a military shooter as they have always been known for? The answer is simple: Simplicity.

We know that the war between Call of Duty and Battlefield has been continuous for many years, with neither side giving an inch of ground. By going outside of the normal genre, and providing a spin off that fans would not expect, is a broad move by the famous publisher.

S.W.A.T deals with some of the most intense situations, that our modern military face daily, just more localized at home. The exciting part is wondering what we can come to expect will happen with the gameplay inside this installment.

Police car chases, hostage negotiations, and bomb threats are most certainly a given. If you remember that the rival developer Ubisoft has pushed their title Rainbow Six Patriots back indefinitely. This was looked at closely as a rival for modern FPS, but there’s still no word so far. We will most likely see localized campaign, and intense multiplayer action. Battlefield 4 is still providing many players with fantastic levels that are being hailed as the best maps online to date!

With E3 less than a month away can the future of the Battlefield franchise be determined by a Wild card like Battlefield Hardline? As we look forward the  big reveal, we will certainly find out.

Are you excited for Battlefield Hardline? Let us know below.

Will there be a Mortal Kombat 10?

mortal kombat logo
Mortal Kombat has been around since 1992.

Is there a new Mortal Kombat in development? A recently leaked poster suggests that there is. We do know that Ed Boon has refused to let the Mortal Kombat 9 to be ported to other consoles such as the Wii U, or the 3DS. If a new Mortal Kombat is in the works, what direction will the iconic fighter turn in?

mortal kombat poster
Who´s next?

We do know from the looks of the poster, the destroyed spine is the moniker of the Mortal Kombat series and points to possibly much more brutal fatalities. What the poster symbolizes vs. what will be is still left to the wind.

This isn’t the first tease or hint about a new Mortal Kombat game. Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon has been tweeting numbers and countdowns that seem to point at a June 2nd reveal for possibly the next installment. In addition, 24’s Kiefer Sutherland has claimed he is involved with a Mortal Kombat project.

With E3 just around the corner and a lot of big reveals happening, will Netherrealm Studio’s enter the ring? If they do it will be their biggest project to date since Injustice Gods Among Us in 2013. We could be possibly see it released exsclusively for Next Gen as well.

What do you think we will see on June 2nd? Comment below.

Chronology - PC review

chronology logo
Title: Chronology
Developer: Osao games
Format: PC
Genre: Puzzle/Adventure
Resolution: Highest possible for PC
Release date: 2014-05-12
Difficulty: Normal
Spent time: +5 hours
Average grade internationally: 73.33% Gamerankings.com
PEGI age rating: 7+
Price: 9.99 Euro via Steam

Normally i have no problems whatsoever writing reviews. But sometimes you end up playing a game that gives you very mixed emotions. Osao games puzzle/platformer "Chronology" would be such a game. Don´t get me wrong. Chronology looks great.

And i really like the design and the funny dialogs between the old inventor and the snail. But there´s quite a few flaws to stains the gameplay experience. But i´m going to start with the good parts of the game first. Like the fact that Chronology looks just as great Rayman Legends for example.

Or that the puzzles are both challenging and fun. Or my favourite part of Chronology. The love/hate relationship between the snail and the inventor (tons of fun comments awaits you!).

chronology the big plant
Luckily enough for me (and you). That plant are both harmless and rather stupid.

But sadly enough, that won´t outshine the downsides and flaws of Chronology. There´s no checkpoints in the game for example (at least not to my knowledge). And i found the controls to be somewhat stiff. But the nr 1 gameplay ruiner, has to be the bugs.

And there are some major annoying bugs in Chronology. Like the "pause" bug. If you chose "Continue", then you will get booted back to the main menu. Then you have the "never ending falling down" bug. Which happens if you (the inventor) falls down into a gap (read "hole").

Which means that you will continue to fall from the top of your screen, to the bottom of the screen in a never ending animation. And that really kills the "happy, happy joy joy" feeling. At least it did for me. So i won´t be able to give Chronology a 4/5 grade.

Sure, there may be eight chapters in total in Chronology. But that doesn't help much when the bugs keeps on destroying the gameplay experience. And there´s not that much of replay value to mention either. Nothing to collect, bonuses or achievements to unlock.

So until Osao games takes care of the bugs, and "maybe" add some achievements (or new content via DLC) to expansions) Chronology. I´m giving Chronology a 3.5/5 grade.

Pros:
+ Awesome graphics
+ Funny dialogs and characters
+ Challenging puzzles

Cons:
- Bugs O´ plenty
- The controls are somewhat stiff
- No checkpoint system

Gameplay: 3/5
Graphics: 4/5
Sound and music: 4/5
Controls: 3/5
Replay value: 3/5

Verdict: 3.5/5
Chronology ain´t a bad platform game. But the bugs and the stiff controls. Ruined the overall gameplay experience for me. Thus i had to give it a lower grade.

Story of Seasons - The new Harvest Moon game for 3DS

story of seasons
Harvest Moon has no become "Story of Seasons".

Somewhat 20 years ago Natsume released their very first Harvest Moon game. And quite a few Harvest Moon titles has been created since then. And now, some 10 million sold copies later. It´s time for the next chapter in the Harvest Moon series.

But this time it´s a game for the 3DS, and the game in question would be "Story of Seasons". Quite a shocker, huh? The name change i mean. But don´t let the name change fool you. Because the Harvest Moon soul are all intact.

So "hopefully" Story of Seasons will become a really good game. And if you want to know more about Story of Seasons. Then i would recommend you to read the IGN´s article. Because it covers all the details about Story of Seasons.

So, have a nice read ;)

Battlefield: Hardline trailer

battlefield hardline
Cops Vs bad guys, pretty much.

This has to be the hottest video game news so far this week. Yes, EA are working on a new Battlefield game. And it´s called "Battlefield: Hardline" ("Project Omaha"). No one would have known that though, if it haven't been for the trailer that leaked out earlier today.

The trailer was removed some hours ago. But GamerSpawn reuploaded the trailer on their Youtube page. And it seems like BF Hardline are a mix of Counter Strike, Heist, GTA and BF. I also heard something about "Free-to-play".

But we all know how the F2P EA model works (no comments). Anyhow, Battlefield: Hardline are a TBA title at the moment. But the plan would be to release BF Hardline to PC, PS4 and the Xbox One.

So, are you guys excited about the new BF game?

Monochroma - Soon to be released on Steam

monochroma
I really like Monochroma =)

In less than 6 hours from now you will be able to buy Nowhere Studios puzzle/platformer "Monochroma" on Steam. And to make things even better. There´s also a 10% price cut on Monochroma at the moment. So that means that you can now pre-order Monochroma for 17,99 Euro via Steam!

That´s a really great deal imo =)

Press release:
"Nowhere Studios today unveiled a new trailer for Monochroma, its cinematic dystopian puzzle platformer, that will launch on Windows PC, Mac and Linux on Steam on May 28th. In Monochroma players are transported to a dystopian state during the 1950’s, after two brothers witness a horrific crime committed by an evil corporation. Without cutscenes, text or spoken words, players must delve intellectually and emotionally into the story to help the brothers work together to progress past mind- bending puzzles and save the world from tyranny."

About Monochroma:
Inspired by the developers’ childhood memories of moving from the countryside to urban Istanbul and the “Gezi Protests” of 2013, the most violently oppressed protest in modern Turkey, players discover the environment and follow the story through a carefully constructed black-and-white palette with splashes of red. As a result, the story is instantly understandable by players of all nationalities – without any localization required.

Spread over four chapters, discover vast ghettos built upon thousands of tenement buildings that reach into the clouds, a labyrinth of sewer tunnels, factories bellowing out industrial smoke and a city sized zeppelin hovering in the sky. The puzzles encountered in Monochroma are realistic and use physics to naturally blend with the environment.

Another Monochroma trademark is the relationship between the two brothers. Early in the game, the younger brother injures his leg after an accident, and must be supported by his older sibling. At times, the player needs to temporarily stop carrying him in order to solve puzzles. However he can only be placed near safe, bright areas—because like most kids, he’s scared of the dark. This gameplay mechanic defines Monochroma as a cerebral, methodical puzzle game that rewards players who are caring and brave at the same time. Being a responsible older sibling is mandatory—just as in real life.

Adventure To Fate: A Quest To The Core JRPG

adventure to fate
Hardcore JRPG to the bone baby!

It's been quite some time since i played any old school Jrpg game (the Snes and Mega Drive era). But today i tried TouchMint LLC´s iOS Jrpg game "Adventure To Fate". And i have to say that it´s pretty darn good. At least for iPad (i haven't played the iPhone version, yet).

So if you´re up for some hardcore Jrpg Gaming. Then you might wanna buy Adventure To Fate. Whic you can buy for $2 via the App store.

About Adventure To Fate:
"Adventure To Fate : A Quest To The Core - is an JRPG style game with a medieval fantasy setting. - The Story Behind A Quest To The Core - Strange tidings have come to light in recent days, dark tales come from deep within the kingdom of Cardell.

Early tales of bodiless voices and whispers reached the kings ears. Voices heard by many throughout the kingdom during the darkest of nights. Voices calling out, calling out and drawing them in… On a dark cold night two of the kings finest knights disappeared. Many believed they fled the kingdom out of cowardice. Not all in the kingdom believed this to be true. Countless disappearances associated with the bodiless voices continued fortnight after fortnight.

Castle Cardell became a prison to all who lived within its walls, lords and ladies, princes and princesses were forbidden to leave their quarters after dusk. The disappearances stopped and the tales died down until one cloudy morn when the king was missing from his bed… Knights wondered how their king could have been taken? Mothers feared for their childrens lives and men slept with one eye open and a knife at their side. The kingdom was isolated to all outsiders.

Some wondered if the king simply descended into the dungeons alone looking for the source of evil. Others believed that evil had gained body and come for the king. Ravens were sent far and wide pleading for help. The greatest heroes of our realm responded with urgency wishing to assist in the quest for the king. The realm thanks you for your haste and pray to the gods for your safety in this matter. This will not be a simple journey and you can not be sure to come out of it with your life. I do not know what creatures and men you will find hidden deep below the floors, legend foretells that they are not from this world. May the gods keep you safe on this quest to the core."

Aliens Infestation - Part 1 - The evil space robots

aliens infestation part 1
In space no one can hear you scream. You don´t say bro?

It´s been years since i played a good game that´s been based on the Aliens licens. I mean, the latest edition of AVP was, ehrm. Not even close to AVP1 or AVP2 (both games are great!).

And Aliens Colonial Marines...No comment, you know the deal with that one. But don´t worry my dear Gamer friends. Because Wayforward (the makers of Mighty Switch Force!, Shantae, DuckTales Remastered) made a really great Aliens game for Nintendo DS.

And it´s called "Aliens: Infestation". I picked up that one just the other day, and i´m having a blast. the game feels like a combo of Metal Slug, Super Metroid and Aliens imo. It´s a rather short game though (Sadly enough).

It lasts for like 2-5 hours (depending on how skilled you are).
Anyhow, please enjoy part 1 of my Aliens Infestation series!

Nintendo will soon start a Youtube affiliate program

nintendo logo
Will Nintendo take it chill with the copyright flagging on Youtube now?

Talk about great timeing. Because back in the days. Nintendo used to flag people like crazy on Youtube. You know, for uploading gameplay videos, interviews and reviews for some of Nintendos games. I actually heard something about Nintendo using a "auto flagging" system on Youtube.

Which basically means that Nintendo flagged everything and everyone on Youtube, IF they made a video based on a Nintendo product (or service). I don´t know if that true or not. But i have heard quite a few Nintendo Vs Youtube stories over the years (Google "Totalbiscuit Copyright Strikes").

And today i actually recorded my very first Nintendo DS video (Aliens: Infestation). Which made me a bit jumpy, because of the deal with Nintendo and flagging people on Youtube. But now it seems like Nintendo will take it chill on that front from now on.

I´m of course talking about the "Youtube affiliate program". Because Nintendo told Gameinformer the following:

"Nintendo has been permitting the use of Nintendo copyrighted material in videos on YouTube under appropriate circumstances," a representative told us via email. "Advertisements may accompany those videos, and in keeping with previous policy that revenue is shared between YouTube and Nintendo. In addition, for those who wish to use the material more proactively, we are preparing an affiliate program in which a portion of the advertising profit is given to the creator. Details about this affiliate program will be announced in the future."

In other words, Nintendo has finally realized that they shouldn't bite the hand that feeds them (fans, consumers and video creators). So "hopefully" my (our) Aliens: Infestation video won´t get flagged by Nintendo now.

And IF we make money on that video, we are open to share it with Nintendo.

There's no shortage of epic and great action/rpg games on the market at the moment. But just like everything else. Only ONE game can become nr 1. The king of kings and all that. And i´m quite sure that the team at CI Games are aiming high with their game "Lords of the Fallen" (for PC and PS4).

At least that´s the vibes that i've got from the "Challenge" trailer. The question remains though. Should one pickup Lords of the Fallen for PC or for the PS4? Time will tell i guess. And oh, i should point out that Lords of the Fallen are a TBA title at the moment.

But what do you guys think of Lords of the Fallen so far?

I never thought that i would see a game that would mix three of my favourite games of all time. Which would be Limbo, Prince of Persia and A tale of two sons. But that´s exactly how "Monochroma" looks and feels like.

I may also add that the main character (the bigger brother in the game) feels like a mini version of Shinobi (with the red scarf and everything). And the super awesome 1950s dystopia graphics makes Monochroma feel lika a interactive painting.

Let´s just say that i love the game so far ;) So, please enjoy part 1 of my Monochroma series!

Earlier today we got contacted by the people from Guru Meditation Project. Because they are working on a 2d point and click adventure game called "The Weavers". And i just watched the very first trailer for The Weavers. And even though it´s footage from the pre-alpha version.

And i think it´s very likely for Witchmarsh to collect the missing £4,000. I mean, it´s still 20 days left on the Kickstarter clock. Hell, i wouldn't be surprised  if Witchmarsh collects over £100,000 before the time runs out.

Oh well, time will tell i guess. Best of luck to the folks at Inglenook Studios anyhow!

Sony registers two new Playstation systems

playstation logo
The almighty Sony Playstation logo.

Sony has filed for the registration of two new devices categorized as “Computer Entertainment Systems” with the Ministry of Communications, and Information Technology in the Republic of Indonesia. What this could possibly mean is that Sony has trademarked new Playstation 4, and Playstation 3 models.

The Playstation 4 model in Asia has the code CUH-1006A, while this new Playstation 4 model has been registered with the code CUH-1106A.

The newer version of this code only changes the second number, so this could mean that this is just a minor revision or an internal change, if we compare the code with the Playstation 3 serial numbers.

As a comparison, the change of this digit in PS3 models was translated from a model with a 65 nm RSX (CECH-2001A) to a 40 nm one (CECH-2101A). So, we should expect a more efficient model with a manufacturing process smaller than the previous one.

playstation systems
How much smaller will the PS3 and PS4 systems become?

In the case of the new Playstation 3 model, a new revision has been rumored for a long time now. If this happens to be true, this would be the fourth revision to the Playstation 3 system since its initial release back in 2006.

Hopefully this means we will see a new design scheme similar to the second generation Playstation 3 without the sliding door. A new Playstation 4 system would be a bit of a stretch, but it would work out very well; especially due to the fact that the Playstation 4 has had a track record of system failure since launch in 2013.

Sony is also looking to open China with the Playstation 4, and the introduction of several first party games that will be developed for the country. If Sony can pull off introducing two new Playstation systems to China, they stand to corner the market in gaming, and computer entertainment once again; just as they did in 1999-2000 with the release of the Playstation 2.

What do you want to see happen with the news of the possible new systems on the horizon?

Let us know in the comments below.

The Last Tinker: City of Colors - PC review

the last tinker logo
Title: The Last Tinker: City of colors
Developer: Mimimi Productions
Format: PC
Genre: Platform/action
Resolution: Highest possible for PC
Release date: 2014-05-12
Difficulty: Normal
Spent time: +5 hours
Average grade internationally: 79.13% Gamerankings.com
PEGI age rating: 11+
Price: 19.99 Euro via Steam

"In a world that's much too dark". That´s a part of the lyrics for Guns N´ Roses song "You're Crazy". But those words actually fits pretty well for Mimimi Productions platform/action game "The Last Tinker". Because even though the game are really colorful, and host many lovable NPC characters.

It´s quite obvious that The Last Tinker tries to put some light over some real life problems (such as racism and all the wars that´s taking place in the world right now). Because somethings really wrong in the world of The Last Tinker.

Before people (and creatures) of all colors came along, and respected one and another. But once you get into the shoes of Kuro (the main character of The Last Tinker). You will soon realize that there´s something really dark and evil, that lures beneath all the cuteness and colorful settings in the Last Tinker.

the last tinker kuro
Koru have friends of all colors and shapes.

And without spoiling it for everyone else. I can say this much though. It´s your job to make everything alright again. That´s not how The Last Tinker kicks off though. There will be this kind of "tutorial" kind of gameplay at the very start (you get to know Kuro and his abilities better).

I had no problem with that (whatsoever). But it feelt like you had this training wheels attatched to Kuro from begining to end. So if you are a really experienced platform player. Then it´s very likely that you will find The Last Tinker to be way to easy (It´s very suitable for younger kids though).

I still love the Zelda, Jak and Daxter and Viva Pinata vibes though. And the colorful world of The Last Tinker. But sadly enough, The Last Tinker tripped on the goal line. Because there´s a handfull of things that made me lower the final rating for the game.

The three biggest flaws would be that The Last Tinker ain´t that challenging, and sometimes it feelt like you just walked from point A to B. And finally, you can´t jump when you feel like it (the game does it for you at scripted parts of the game).

But i would still recommend people to give The Last Tinker a try. Because it will offer a gameplay experience out of the ordinary.

Pros:
+ Beautiful graphics
+ Super nice Zelda and Jak and Daxter vibes
+ A very colorful world
+ Positive in-game messages

Cons:
- Sometimes it feels like you´re on a train
- Auto jump, you can´t jump when you feel like it
- Not very challenging

Gameplay: 3.5/5
Graphics: 4/5
Sound and music: 3.5/5
Controls: 4/5
Replay value: 3.5/5

Verdict: 3.5/5
The Last Tinker may not be THE best platform game ever made. But it sure is one of the very best platform games so far this year. And it´s with no doubt (Whatsoever) the most colorful one as well. Feel the love people!

tgg grade 3.5 out of 5

Last Life - A neo-noir cyberpunk adventure game

The tale of Iliara - Help a spirit creature to solve puzzles

iliara
Could Iliara become something really epic? I sure hope so!

Some days ago we hade the great pleasure to be followed on Twitter by Richard Weeks. Because Richard just happens to be a ex Psygnosis and LucasArts veteran. And now days he works at the indie studio "Total Monkery games".

And let me tell you something about Total Monkery. They got some really neat games in the making. Take the puzzle/action game "Iliara " for example. And the plan would be to release Iliara for both PC, tablets and smartphones.

There´s no nailed releasedate for Iliara at the moment though.  But i´m going to keep an close eye on this one. And who know´s, we might even get a review code for Iliara =)

About The tale of Iliara:
"This is the tale of Iliara, as told by the paintings of the ancients…

Iliara is a spirit creature, created by the life force of his planet. He begins his life in innocence, not knowing his origin or purpose, but is guided by the planet to his eventual destiny – saviour of the world.

Iliara is a platform game for mobile, tablet and PC. Players will fire life-spirit using touch or mouse controls to move around the levels, collecting items, fighting enemies and solving a wide variety of puzzles. Iliara also includes a feature-rich level editor, enabling players to create their own puzzles, remix the work of others and share with the community, as well as participate in challenges and competitions."

Aliens: Infestation - The forgotten Aliens game

aliens infestation
I need to get this game asap!

Well ain´t this funny. I know all the shitty Alien games that´s been released over the last 10 years. But i had no clue about Aliens: Infestation (made by Way Forward, released back in 2011). Which just happens to be a really good Nintendo DS game.

And most likely THE best Aliens game that´s been released in a very, very long time. So why in hell haven't i (and you) heard about it? That´s a very good question. In fact, i can´t even remember seeing any ads (or such) for it in Sweden.

So what kind of game are Aliens: Infestation then? I'm glad you asked. Infestation is a 2D side-scrolling action game (think Aliens meets Metal Slug). That sure sounds great. There´s just one little problem. I own no DS system at the moment.

Oh well, i guess i just have to buy one!

About Aliens: Infestation:
"Game over man, game over! Immerse yourself in the Aliens universe on Nintendo DS in this action-packed, platform shooter with a hardcore, retro feel and a deep storyline that tailors itself to your game. Lead your own specially selected team of Colonial Marines into action to rescue captured comrades and battle hordes of Xenomorphs with a vast array of weaponry from the legendary Aliens film title. Can you handle the tension and terror which meets you at every level?"

Features:
- The Aliens universe provides a setting full of horror, suspense and action. Using authentic environments inspired by the film series including the Sulaco and LV-426, the player will be immersed in an eerie, atmospheric world where any moment could bring their death.
- Wield authentic weapons from the films, including the pulse rifle, smart gun, flamethrower and more. Use cover and blindfire to outshoot Xenos or sneak through the Sulaco in stealth missions - but watch out for Xenos lurking in the dark.
- Recruit up to twenty individual Colonial Marines with distinct personalities, each designed by famed comic artist Chris Bachalo. Race to rescue captured comrades in five realtime minutes before they are implanted with Xenos.
- Storyline and dialogue will change depending on who you have chosen for your team. Who will be able to stand up to the Xeno horde - and who will be dragged away to the hive?
- Aliens: Infestation features 2D side-scrolling gameplay in the style of Metroid or Castlevania with an arcade, retro feel. This couples with a deep combat system and extensive narrative to make this the ultimate in fan-service.

Iji - Part 5 - The Komoto assassin

iji part 5
Komoto assassin vs Iji. Round 1, fight!

Iji are a pretty hard game even on the lowest difficulty setting. So when you play it on hard (which i do), there´s very little room for misstakes. Because later on in the game.

There´s actually enemies that can kill you with one single shot (if you have haven't upgraded your armor or health that is).
So it´s extremely important that you upgrade your alien skills asap.

So that you can use the Komoto weapon arsenal for ex.
At least if you want to stand a chance against the Komoto assassin. I think that i did rather well though.

So please enjoy part 5 of my Iji series ;)

Sony's Ceo Says Over Half Of PS4 Owners Have PS+

ps plus
More and more people join the PS+ movement.

According to statements from Sony CEO Kazuo Hirai in a corporate strategy meeting, at least half of every two people who own PS4’s has a Playstation Plus account.

The high percentage of PS4 units tied to Playstation Plus subscriptions goes well with Hirai's statements that the PS4 will go on to become more profitable than the PS2, as Hirai cited digital services like Playstation Plus as a major factor for his prediction.

sony ceo kazuo hirai
Sony´s CEO. Mr Kazuo Hirai.

Hirai noted that Sony raked in more than 200 billion yen (~$1.9 billion) through network services in the fiscal year of 2013, and he expects that number to increase going forward. Here’s his speech excerpt concerning the plans for the Playstaton Plus program well into 2015:

"Let me begin by talking about our Game and Network Services business.

This fiscal year we are set to consolidate our leading position in the home console market by further expanding PS4 sales around the world. Following its introduction in North America in November 2013, in 5 months, PS4 has launched in 72 countries and regions achieving cumulative sell-through of 7 million units as of April 6. It’s been a hugely successful launch, but the key to the long term success of the platform lies in how solidly we can continue to grow the installed base.

In terms of game titles for PS4, as of April 13, 47 titles had been launched with a total of 20.5 million units being sold via retailers and over the network on the PlayStation Store. By extracting the best creativity from all of our partners in the game development community, PS4 has dramatically expanded the possibilities of game play. But at the same time, PS4 is also designed to provide the kinds of social experiences via the network that offer users a richer gaming experience than ever before.

PS4’s remote play function also allows users to easily enjoy the PS4 experience on their PlayStation Vita, expanding the PS4 gaming experience beyond your living room, and making it available anytime, anywhere. From a profitability perspective, PS4 is also already contributing profit on a hardware unit basis, establishing a very different business framework from that of previous platform businesses.

The network functions that are possible with PS4 continue to evolve by the day. Approximately half of PS4 users are registered to the PlayStation Plus subscription service, while the number of active users on the PlayStation Network and Sony Entertainment Network exceeds 52 million worldwide. Many of our users now enjoy an array of game, music and video content via the network.

And our PlayStation App for smartphones and tablets that lets players share their PS4 experience to their mobile devices, is also proving hugely popular, with the total number of downloads already exceeding 4.5 million. Sales from our network business including game, music and video services exceeded 200 billion yen in fiscal 2013, and we intend to further expand that figure going forward.

When I was telling you about our entertainment business earlier, I said that the shift in digital content delivery from downloads to streaming is only going to accelerate. In the case of game content, the data format is completely different from movies and other video content, so there needed to be a technological revolution before we could switch from distributing game content via downloads to streaming.

But starting this summer, we will begin distributing PS3 games via streaming to our users in the U.S. on an open beta version of our new PlayStation Now streaming service, first for PS4 and then PS Vita. And that’s just the first step. Going forward, we will use streaming to deliver the PlayStation experience worldwide. We also plan to make PlayStation Now compatible with new “BRAVIA” LCD TVs to be launched in the U.S. market this year. And in the future, we intend to extend its availability to a wide range of networked devices.

Our vision for network services at Sony -- a vision of launching a revolution in entertainment with cloud-based services -- goes beyond games. Within the year we will be introducing in the U.S. a new, cloud-based television service that is even more personal and dynamic, and even more attuned to our customers’ tastes and viewing habits. It combines the television programs that have received such strong praise from our customers on cable TV, with the dynamic viewing experience people want from a digital media service.

Because it will be possible for our customers to enjoy both the most popular new TV programs, and a broad video-on-demand content library on this new service, they will be able to see all their favorite movies, TV shows and sports programming in one place. We are also working to make it incredibly easy to access exactly what you want to see from this vast library of content.

At Sony we plan to provide a revolutionary experience that intelligently brings together cloud-based live television, video-on-demand, and content saved on customers’ digital video recorders -- that also makes it possible to easily and seamlessly access it all, at any time, on any device.

So, as you can see, in the Game and Network business we are set to secure even greater sources of profit by further expanding our content, software and network services on the firm foundation of a platform business that continues to generate stable profit itself, and offer our customers even more new and exciting entertainment experiences. This year marks the 20th anniversary of PlayStation. The PS2 platform was the biggest success until now in terms of profit, but I believe that PS4’s hardware, software and services have the potential to combine and develop into a platform capable of generating even greater profit." Sony CEO Kazuo Hirai

Super Monkey Ball Bounce - Go bananas to iOS and Android

super monkey ball bounce
SEGA will release Super Monkey Ball Bounce for free this summer.

It´s been quite a while since SEGA made a new Super Monkey Ball game. But to my big surprise. I just found out that SEGA will release a mobile Super Monkey Ball game called "Super Monkey Ball Bounce" (for iOS and Android).

And it won´t cost a penny once it get´s released this summer either. Imo, Super Monkey Ball Bounce seems to be a "Peggle" kind of game. But with boss battles, monkeys, bananas and a large dose of twisted humor.

So yeah, Super Monkey Ball Bounce sounds just like my kind of game.

About Super Monkey Ball Bounce:
"Super Monkey Ball is coming to mobile with an ALL-NEW way to play in Super Monkey Ball Bounce! Join AiAi on his epic adventure, rescuing playable monkey friends as you bounce, slide and rebound your way through jungles, volcanoes and glaciers.

Coming soon to the App Store and Google Play."

Half-Life 3 are under development again - Minh Le speaks up

half life 3 logo
HL3 are very much alive so it seems.

Well, well well. Just when you thought that all hope was gone for Half-Life 3.Strangely enough, this time it was not Valve that teased the fans with some HL3 hints. Nope, this time it was the creator of Counter-Strike (ex Valve developer  Minh Le) that spoke up about Half-Life 3 over a Twitch stream just recently.

And this is what Minh Le said:

“I think it’s kind of public knowledge that people know that it is being worked on, so if I was to say ‘yeah, I’ve seen some images’ like some concept art of it that wouldn’t be big news. “I guess I could say that I did see something that could be in the Half-Life universe. I mean it wouldn’t surprise anyone if I said yeah they’re working on it. To go out on a limb, I would say I did see some Half-Life 3 concept art.”

“I saw it, it looks great. I was really excited when I saw that, I was like ‘wow, this looks great’,”  - Minh Le Aka "Gooseman".

But as we all know (which Le also pointed out). It´s been known for quite some time now, that Valve has been working on (and off) on HL3 for years. So this ain´t exactly hot news. But at least it gives me (as a HL fan) some hope, that i one day (hopefully) will see Half-Life 3 happen.

Me, i just hope that Valve will show something from the HL3 project during the E3 event this summer.

Path of shadows - Part 1 - That's one big knife

path of shadows part 1
Mr Pyramid head knows how to swing a knife like a boss.

"Only a Ninja can kill a Ninja". That´s what i feelt when i sat down with the stealth/action game "Path of shadows" today. But there´s way more to it than "just" that.

Because Path of shadows are a mix of both Dishonored, Mark of the Ninja, Okami, Journey and Sly Cooper. And you actually get vibes from all those games while you´re playing Path of shadows.

And if you are a Silent Hill fan. Then you will get my SH joke (the name of the video + the Youtube picture). Anyhow, please enjoy part 1 of my Path of shadows series!
