Could Blade 4 actually happen?

blade 4
Will Marvel (and Disney) let Wesley Snipes star in Blade 4?

Is Blade 4 actually happening? According to the buzz that’s circulating the internet, it is a very strong possibility. In 1998, we were introduced to the day walking vampire hunter, and Marvel entertainmet never looked back. Blade slashed his way into theatres, and achieved box office success, the same kind expected of Marvel standalone hero’s at the time.

The only problem that Blade ran into was that the sequels that followed, couldn’t measure up to the success that X-men had achieved in 2000. If you pair this with the fact that Marvel really didn’t see a way to include him into the mainstream world, and give him his own standing comic series—you can certainly understand why the buzz died quickly, even after it saved horrible comic book movies such as Batman and Robin, and The Phantom.

The NY Daily news seems to think that Snipes has the chops to pull off a huge comeback with his reprisal.

Confidenti@l has learned Wesley Snipes is set to reprise his lead role in "Blade," the 1998 vampire thriller that made more than $130 million and generated two sequels. Sources close to Snipes tells us the 52-year-old actor’s comeback after being released from prison in April 2013 (after serving two and a half years for tax evasion) is "looking good" and that he’ll make $3 million from this film, plus a cut of the profits.

Wesley Snipes has begun a career comeback, with his most recent entry of The Expendables 3. While his role was more of a supporting casting, it still was enough to let fans know, he still has he moves to play Blade if Marvel gives him the chance. The only obstacles in his way that we can forsee are:

1. With Marvel being so PG-13 now, can a rated R film like Blade 4 achieve box office success with the Avengers and new Marvel Universe? Honestly, probably not. They could give him his own arc, but how successful would it be exactly?

2. Now that Disney owns Blade, we can’t seriously expect him to show up in the theme parks like the Avengers, or Spider-Man, so what could they do with him as a character?

3. Knowing that New Line Cinema was the leading producer of the first three Blade films, and Warner Bros. was the Exective producer, while Marvel was the parent it raises many questions.

If Blade 4 comes to theatres, we have to wonder if we’ll get extra footage, if Marvel will bring him back into prominence, and if Snipes will be Blade once again. We could get a new actor entirely if the movie is greenlit, just so Snipes won’t receive royalties for repackaged movie combo packs.

What are your thoughts on Blade 4? Let us know in the comments!

Brutal Doom v19 - Doom 2 - Part 27

brutal doom v19 doom 2 part 27
Burn baby burn!

Fire ain´t no friend of mine. Especially not when it´s inside my office. In this case, my fire alarm set itself on fire. And things got ugly really fast.
I was just lucky that i had to get back to my office to get my iPAD.

Or else my whole office might have burned down to the ground.
But i managed to put out the fire with the help of a wet blanket. Both my wall and my cd-shelf has burn marks though.

But besides that, no other harm was done.
So that´s basically what i´m talking about in this video. So, enjoy folks ;)

Steams Big Picture - The next step for Gaming

steam big screen
Yes, i´m Swedish.

I honestly don't know for how long people have been able to use the "Big Picture" function via Steam on PC. But i gave it a try last night (Steam-API: V016). And i have to say that it´s pretty darn cool impressing. The whole thing feelt like, XBL (or PSN) but for PC instead.

I havn´t had time to play around with all the menus, settings and such for Big Picture. But it feels like it´s the next step for Steam and Gaming. Because Big Picture turns your Steam experience, shopping and chat sections, into a interactive pleasure.

And i wouldn't be that surprised to hear that Big Picture will support both Oculus Rift and a virtual keyboard in the near future. So, have you guys tried out Valves Big Picture yet. If so, what do you think of it so far?

About Big picture:
Check out Big Picture, Steam's new mode that lets gamers access all of their favorite Steam games on a television. With the press of a button, Steam displays a new full-screen user interface optimized for readability and interaction on TV. Big Picture has been designed to be used with a traditional game controller, while also fully supporting keyboard and mouse input.

Schrodinger's Cat: And the Raiders of the Lost Quark

schrodingers cat
Schrodinger's Cat are set for a release on Steam some time during Q3 this year.

Believe it or not. But Italic Pig´s and Team 17´s upcoming puzzle/platformer game "Schrodinger's Cat" (For PC, MAC, Linux, iOS and Android). Are NOT a dead project. I know, it´s been rather quite lately. In fact, i havn´t read or heard anything about Schrodinger's Cat, since i read about the game in PC Gamer back in April this year.

But then i was informed that Schrodinger's Cat : And the Raiders of the Lost Quark (the full title of the game) will be released on Steam during by the end of this year (Q3 2014). So keep your eye´s open for it people =)

About Schrodinger's Cat:
That’s right: Schrödinger’s Cat! Action Hero of the Quantum Polyverse. Yes, seriously. We’ve been waiting so long for someone to make that happen, we finally decided to do it ourselves.

Raiders of the Lost Quark is a wacky action-adventure-platformer-puzzler that blazes irreverently through the wild wonders of the Standard Model, combining lateral-thinking multi-solution logic puzzles with Fists-of-Feynman kickass combat action. Pfft, who’d want to play that? Ha ha! Who WOULDN’T, I think you mean!

Hive Jump - Contra, XCOM, Spelunky and Metroid in the mix

hive jump
Hive Jump are $15,000 short at the moment.

It would be really, really sad if Graphite Lab´s action/platformer/strategy game "Hive Jump" (for PC/Mac/Linux and Wii U) won´t get funded via Kickstarter. Because it´s not every day that you get to see (and play) a game that´s a mix of XCOM, Spelunky, Metroid and Contra.

But that´s exactly what Hive Jump looks and feels like. So it sucks really hard if Hive Jump won´t reach it´s $50,000 goal on Kickstarter. And the time is running out fast now (there´s just 6 days left on the Kickstarter watch).

So if you like the Hive Jump trailer (and concept). Then show the game some lovin on Kickstarter asap =)

About Hive Jump:
Hive Jump is one part Spelunky, one part XCOM, and all parts alien ♥♥♥-kicking. You and your friends assume the role of jumpers, and blast your way through subterranean alien hives in run n’ gun 2D platforming action. Kill aliens, avoid traps, collect resources, and defeat the hive queen lurking at the bottom of the hive to complete the JUMP.

The Xbox One reputation system - Let's play nice shall we

xbox one reputation system
What kind of player are you?

This ain´t news in any kind of way. Because the The Xbox One reputation system has been known since March (and even before that). But last night i saw a rather interesting conversation on Twitter. And i can´t say that i have reflected that much over the reputation system either.

So i´m just going to give my 5 cents on the subject. First of all, let´s face it. Haters, trolls and game ruiners are a huge problem (no matter the format). But it seems like the Xbox community suffers the most when it comes to that kind of people (and problems).

Some say it´s becuase the average user are really young (10-16 years old). I don´t know if that´s true or not. But i have seen some scales and statistics for Xbox and the 360 in the past (in Swedish magazines), and according to them a lot of the Xbox users where teens). So that might be the case with the Xbox One as well.

So that makes me wonder, how well does the Xbox One reputation system work? Sadly enough, i don´t own a Xbox One at this time.So i can't answer whether or not it works or not. That´s why i´m turing to you (our readers) for help.

If you are a Xbox One user, could you then enlighten us on this subject? In short, shed some light over the Xbox One reputation system, does it work? And what do you think of it so far?

Legend of Lotus - The war between humans and elves

legend of lotus
Legend of Lotus are very close to become a reality on Kickstarter.

We all have dreams and goals in life. But not everyone have the guts to reachout and actually go all the way. Because of the fear of failing, and because it might become a painful experience. But the makers of the JRPG game Legend of Lotus (which are made in RPG Marker) showed no fear, they just decided to make their dreams come true.

And they are very close to do so as well. Which would be to make a old school Jrpg game. In fact, Legend of Lotus are just $500 short on Kickstarter at this moment (the goal would be to collect $2,000). So, yeah. I´m 99,9% sure that Legend of Lotus will happen for real.

Because there´s 15 days left on the Kickstarter watch. And $500 ain´t exactly that much either. So, let´s make Legend of Lotus happen people =)

About Legend of Lotus:
Legend of Lotus is a Steam-Punk-esque, JRPG, that takes place in the world of Genos. Sentient life was spawned by the arrival of a powerful stone known as the Lotus.

Nintendo unveils a new 3DS and 3DS LL system

new 3ds
The new 3DS system has a pretty slick design.

Nintendo has revealed the “New Nintendo 3DS.” This new system is introducing a plethora of exclusive features, updated graphics, and images to bolster its system.

Nintendo skipped revealing a system at last year’s E3, and now we know why. It’s bigger, faster, and stronger than its predecessor, and makes retro look like the new black. Lets take a detailed look at the new features that the new system has shall we?

new 3ds buttons
So, you thought that Nintendo wouldn´t add a second analog stick to the 3DS? WRONG!

Second analog stick

A lot of people said that Nintendo would never add a second analog stick to its 3DS system, but now we can see that we were all wrong. It has added the proverbial C-stick, from the Nintendo Gamecube. This makes sense since games like Super Smash Bros., Monster Hunter, Dragon Quest X online, and the recently announced reboot to Xenogears will use it well.

new 3ds snes
You simply can´t go wrong with the epic SNES buttons.

New design

Nintendo redesigned the buttons with the Super Famicom controller closely in mind on purpose, and we couldn’t be happier. The buttons are oddly reminiscent of the Nintendo Gamecube, and it will make playing Super Smash Bros. easier than ever due to the depression sensitivity of the buttons.

new 3ds front
Up close and personal.

The game card slot now resides on the left side of the handheld, and the power button rests to the right, next to the stylus housing. We’ve also received Z-buttons, for more play options on the unit itself. One of the best new features is the automatic brightness setting that will adjust itself depening upon the lighting in the area.

3DS tech

Nintendo has overhauled the 3D technology, that they sought to capitalize on with the 3DS. Once upon a time if you viewed the system at an angle it became blurry and made your eyes hurt. Now it can be viewed from any angle thanks to gyroscopic sensors placed throughout the unit, allowing the 3D technology to shift along with the players face.

new 3ds backside
Yep, that´s a SD card slot.

Internal features

We have a removable cover for the unit, this makes us think of the Nintendo Gameboy. Along with this added benefit is the fact that the SD card housing is beneath this cover, and now is a Micro-SD slot. Yes we can do away with those SD-HC cards and move forward with technology. The New 3DS will also offer increased CPU power, meaning that  you can download games and content much quicker than with the 3DSXL.

new 3ds amiibo

Amiibo technology

The New Nintendo 3DS will feature a NFC reader/ writer directly on the touchpad, allowing you to use the Amiibo technology for Super Smash Bros. from day one! For those unfamiliar the Amiibo was talked about during Nintendo’s press conference at E3. It will allow players to use interactive figurines to add to their gameplay experience.

new 3ds and 3ds ll
Will you buy the new 3DS (3DS LL) system?

With all these features happening so quickly, and the Tokyo Games Show less than a month away, we can certainly expect Nintendo to contend for the top spot with systems once again. Depending upon how well Super Smash Bros. sells during its initial release, we can expect some big numbers. The New Nintendo 3DS (LL) will be priced at $154.00 and the New Nintendo 3DSXL model will be $181.00.

Are you excited for Nintendo’s new perfected handheld? Let us know in the comments!

Sunset Overdrive - Behind the scenes

sunset overdrive
Wll Sunset Overdrive help MS to sell more Xbox One´s Time will tell.

Out of all the Xbox One games that i´ve seen so far. Insomniac Games open world shooter "Sunset Overdrive" has impressed me the most. Why? You might wonder. Well, i just like the thought of being able to do whatever i want in a post apocalyptic environment.

And you will also be able to make uniq characters (thanks to the customization system) in Sunset Overdrive (after your own taste and likings). Imo, Sunset Overdrive are like a mix of the crazy stuff from Saints Row, the weapon arsenal from Dead Rising 3 (but with a even more insane lineup of weapons and customizations) and the comic feel from Borderlands.

So, yeah. I would love to give Sunset a try. I mean, it´s like a explosive version of parkour on drugs! But you don´t need to take my word on it. Watch the "behind the scenes" video instead. And oh! Sunset Overdrive are set for a release on the 31th of October to Xbox One.

About Sunset Overdrive:
2027. Sunset City. A contaminated energy drink has transformed most of the population into a multitude of toxic mutants. For many it's the end of the world, but for you it's a dream come true. Your old boss? Dead. Your boring job? Gone.

Transform the open-world into your tactical playground by grinding, vaulting and wall-running across the city while using a devastating, unconventional arsenal. With hyper-agility, unique weapons, and customizable special abilities, "Sunset Overdrive" rewrites the rules of traditional shooters and delivers an explosive, irreverent, stylish, and totally unique adventure exclusively to Xbox One.

Razer Hydra, Half Life 2 and Oculus Rift in the mix

razer hydra
When i get a Oculus Rift i´m picking up Razer Hydra as well.

The other day i read a rather said comment by a Swedish ex Gamer in the latest issue of PC Gamer. The poor lad has lost his interest in games and Gaming. So he basically asked for help and guidance. I´ve been there before, and when i was at a all time low.

Brutal Doom saved me. So "maybe" the combo of Razer´s Hydra, Valve´s Half-Life 2 and the Oculus Rift, can solve that guy´s doubt in games? Well, it sure made a big impression on me at least. Because Goldfish (the maker of the "Half Life 2 VR Training (AMAZING!)" video) sure had a blast with HL2, Oculus Rift and Razer´s Hydra.

Let´s just say that i would love to play through all of Half-Life 2 with that setup. That sure would be one hell of a ride!

NHL 15 - It´s in the game!

NHL 15 are set for a release on the 12th of September (for PS4, PS3, 360 and Xbox One).

I'm of course rather disappointed over the fact that EA won´t release NHL 15 to PC. But besides that, i´m rather excited about NHL 15. Mainly because i haven't played a NHL game for several years now. But also because NHL 15 seems to offer the best ice hockey video game experience to date.

Xbox One strikes back - The new update is here!

xbox one
Could the new Xbox One update help MS to sell more Xbox One units?

Microsoft is finally rolling out an update for the Xbox One, which will put it into the spotlight that it has needed for quite some time. It’s no secret that Microsoft is trailing far behind Sony when it comes to sales of the Next-Gen consoles, but it shouldn’t have taken this long to have these features on the new console.

Media Player app:

You’ll be able to finally play Media Files from an attached USB device. With this new media player app – DLNA support for your home media servers will be coming soon. Xbox One will support more formats than Xbox 360, including support for dozens of new file formats like Mpeg 2 TS, animated gifs and MKV, which will be added by the end of this year.

Party App:

You can be the leader of your party, with the new party leader setting. As the party leader, you can change whether the party requires invitations or not, and you can remove others from the party anytime you wish. The update also lets you see what activities everyone in your party is doing and who is playing in the same game with you. It also allows you to being able to quickly perform common actions like muting, joining, or sending game invites. Your matches will be set up, and ended must faster now!

SmartGlass:

You can now post status messages from the Activity Feed and comments, or share items from both your Activity Feed and Game Clips. Along with the new comment and share features, a personalized Activity Feed has been added to your profile and messages have been updated to a new layout supporting a full conversation view. Additionally, we are adding the ability to record game clips directly from the Now Playing bar.

“Xbox On” capabilities in New regions:

Australia, Canada (French), Italy, Spain, and Mexico will have the ability to use the “Xbox On” Kinect voice command to power on their consoles when they’re in connected standby (Instant On) mode.

OneGuide comes to new countries:

Brazil, Mexico, Austria, and Ireland will have the ability to configure live TV listings and it will be available to all customers in these four countries. Also coming to these markets is the ability to use OneGuide and the Universal Remote Control in SmartGlass.

Boot to TV:

Now Xbox One owners will be able to set their console to boot directly to television when coming out of connected standby.

Bandwidth Usage Display:

Bandwidth Usage will show users how much bandwidth their Xbox One is consuming over a period of time, a useful tool for those who want to track against bandwidth caps set by ISPs in certain markets. It also helps so you won’t experience lag during crucial moments when you’re leveling up.

Avatar Gamerpic:

A new option to save Avatar Gamerpics to users’ OneDrive. This doesn’t really look all that appealing, but at least you have the option to care about its inclusion into the app.

GameDVR deletes:

Users will be able to choose multiple GameDVR clips to delete at once in the Upload app. This will free up crucial storage space for those die hard moments when you get three headshots in a row.

Microsoft has already stated that it plans to continue this trend of updating the Xbox One, and separating the OS of its consoles from its other devices. The good thing is, if they unify the devices for ease of access without over doing it, we’ll see a spike in sales, and productivity for gamers,  and PC enthusiasts.

What do you think of Microsoft’s new updates on the Xbox One? Let us know!

Disney Infinity 2.0 - Hiro and Bayma

disney infinity 2.0 hiro and baymax
Hiro and Bayma are now a part of the Disney Infinity 2.0 Toy Box family.

More and more famous characters are entering the world of Disney Infinity 2.0. And this time it´s Hiro and Bayma (from the upcoming movie " Big Hero 6") that joins the Disney Infinity crew. That makes one wonder who Disney will add in the future?

Could one hope for a playable version of Robin Williams? (Peter Pan).

Press release:
Today, Disney Interactive announced that Hiro and Baymax from the upcoming action-packed movie Big Hero 6 will be entering the Disney Infinity 2.0 Toy Box. Fans will be able to use Hiro’s mind-power and Baymax’s super strength, along with hundreds of items, locations, props, vehicles and more from across the Disney and Marvel universes to create all-new adventures born from the imagination of players.

Key highlights
Hiro: From the heart of San Fransokyo into 2.0 Toy Box comes the brilliant robotics prodigy Hiro Hamada, who created Big Hero 6. The inventor of mind-controlled microbots uses his brain as his most powerful weapon.

Baymax: There is no robot better suited for the Disney Infinity 2.0 Toy Box than the plus-sized inflatable Baymax. While this robot might have a huggable side, he definitely packs a hard armor shell. His Kung Fu fighting moves can ward off even the fiercest of enemies. His rocket fist, super strength and thrusters are unmatched.

There will also be a Big Hero 6 Chem Capsule Power Disc, which allows players to create a cloud of frost that freezes enemies right in their tracks.

Disney Infinity 2.0 will be fully localised in Danish, Finnish, Norwegian and Swedish. Scheduled for release in Nordic retail stores on September 19th 2014. Disney Infinity 2.0 has a PEGI 7 rating. Additional Disney and Marvel characters will be announced in the coming months.

inFAMOUS: First Light - The prequel to Second Son

ps4 infamous first light
First Light are set for a retail release on September 10th (for the PS4). The PSN release toke place on August 26th though.

There´s a lot of talk about sexism and bad portrayal of women in video games. Well, i ain´t going to pretend like it´s a lie. Because it´s not. Sadly enough it´s true. But it seems like the industry are slowly changing to something better.

Like in the case with Sucker Punch inFAMOUS DLC "First Light" for example. Because in First Light you play as a strong women with super powers (Abigail "Fetch" Walker). So it´s not the normal "come and rescue me" kind of thing.

Well, let´s just say that Abigail (the women in question) are more the capable to handle things on her own.It remains to be seen whether or not First Light are a great gameplay experience or not though. The PSN version of First Light has been out since the 26th of August. But still, not that many reviews has been made so far.

So i think i wait a while before i give it a go.

About inFAMOUS: First Light:
Return to Seattle as Abigail "Fetch" Walker - the feisty, neon-powered conduit who takes on the Department of Unified Protection with Delsin Rowe - in this prequel to inFAMOUS Second Son. Unravel Fetch's dark past as she relives her troubled memories while being interrogated by Brooke Augustine in the notoriously harsh prison for superhumans - Curdun Cay. See Fetch develop her powers and become a trained killer, then fight to escape the maximum security facility and seek revenge against those who've wronged her.

Grimoire - A medieval fantasy multiplayer FPS game

grimoire
Think of Grimoire as a multiplayer version of Heretic (mixed with some League of Legends). But with 2014 graphics and a lot of wizards.

Way back in 1994 Raven Software released a really great fantasy FPS game called "Heretic". And well, there hasn´t been many games like that over the years. Until now that is. Because Omniconnection are working on a neat medieval/fantasy/multiplayer FPS game named "Grimoire" (which uses the Unreal engine).

And we have been given the great pleasure to play Grimoire. So we hope to record some gameplay videos asap =) And oh! If you like our videos (or the Grimoire down below), then don´t forget to signup for the Grimoire Alpha!

I should also point out that there will be a Kickstarter campaign for Grimoire in the near future.

About Grimoire:
Grimoire is a PC multiplayer shooter where wizards battle in a dark medieval fantasy world for prestige and power using unique and powerful spells. Though inspired by many popular FPS games, Grimoire is a significant departure from the norm, including everything from devastating “ultimate” attacks to specialized class-based passive skills to customizable classes.

We aim to combine the best of FPS with the unique classes and abilities found in MOBA games into fun and engaging wizard combat that rewards precise aim as well as strategic skills and teamwork. Although Grimoire has a total of seven planned game modes we have decided to focus primarily on our three favorites for the games initial release: Conquest, Co-Op Survival, and Arena.

In Space We Brawl - Street playtesting trailer

in space we brawl
In Space We Brawl are set for a release to PS3 and PS4 sometime this year.

So don´t miss out on the new video folks =)

Press release:
Indie developer Forge Reply has released a new trailer for In Space We Brawl, showcasing the playtesting done in the streets of Europe. Iji - Part 10 - The legacy of the cyberpunk genre

iji part 10
Two of the very best cyberpunk games in the history of video games.

Ever since i played System Shock one back in 1994. I have been a fan of the cyberpunk genre. And i started to like cyberpunk even more when i watched Akira and Ghost In The Shell.

And throughout the years i have played a handful of really great cyberpunk games (Shadowrun, Deus Ex, Blade Runner and many, many more!). That´s why i decided to dedicate part 10 of Iji to the cyberpunk universe =)

So, please enjoy folks!

Corrections:
- I meant Syndicate, not System Shock. Because that´s the game that Bullfrog made.

The Hive - A really nice mix of Dungeon Keeper and Starcraft

the hive
The concept art for The Hive are just simply brilliant.

It´s seems like the Finnish studio Skydome Entertainment got something rather nice in the making. Because their game "The hive" (which would be a adventure/puzzle/strategy game for PC, MAC and Linux) made me think of a really nice blend of Starcraft (the zerg) and Dungeon Keeper. I also have to say that i really like the design and graphics in The Hive.

And i was just informed that The Hive got thumbs up on Steam Greenlight. So that means that the game will be for sale on Steam in the near future. So "hopefully" we will get a review code for The Hive. Because i really want to give the game a try.

Oh, well. You guys can enjoy the trailer for The Hive in the meanwhile ;)

About The Hive:
Hive is an easily approachable, riveting strategy game, where the objective of the player is to build an underground network using their insect colonies from the base, called "nests". Captivating backstory and a beautiful visual design takes the player to a fantasy world, which offers new surprises and challenges as the game progresses.

To react to these challenges the player must upgrade and adjust their nest. Leaning to heavy storytelling and a broad world, Hive offers the player a diverse exploration ground. Having many different endings and possibilities, the player can create their own unique route, strategy, and story.

Growing and adjusting are one of the most important parts of the game. There lies many challenges in the underground networks, and the player must defeat enemies and explore the land to upgrade their nest to answer to them.

By defeating right kind of enemies you can find new objects which you can add to your nest and use them in the battle. It is also possible for the player to learn new technology by inspecting the old abandoned ruins and temples.

The game has gotten its inspiration from the nature documentaries of insects, borrowed and blended elements from science fiction, strategy games and fascinating world of archaeology. The end product is one of a kind game concept, which mesmerizes the player for a long time.

Google gets dissed by Twitch - Chooses Amazon instead

amazon buys twitch tv
Amazon paid 970 million dollars for Twitch TV.

I bet that there´s quite a few angry faces at the Google camp right now. Because they lost the deal with Twitch. At first, everyone (including myself) thought that Google bought Twitch for 1 billion dollars (that the deal was sealed, written in blood and all that).

But no, apperantly Google fumbled with the ball along the way. And Amazon were quick to pick that ball up (Twitch), at the price of $970 million. So why did Twitch choose Amazon instead of Goolge? Well, this is what Twitch CEO Emmett Shear had to say about the Twitch deal with Amazon:

"We chose Amazon because they believe in our community, they share our values and long-term vision, and they want to help us get there faster,"

"We’re keeping most everything the same: our office, our employees, our brand, and most importantly our independence. But with Amazon’s support we’ll have the resources to bring you an even better Twitch."
- Twitch CEO Emmett Shear

And Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos add this about their deal with Twitch:

"Broadcasting and watching gameplay is a global phenomenon and Twitch has built a platform that brings together tens of millions of people who watch billions of minutes of games each month,"

"Like Twitch, we obsess over customers and like to think differently, and we look forward to learning from them and helping them move even faster to build new services for the gaming community." - Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos

So there you have it. Google lost this match to Amazon. But is it for good or bad? For those who use and work with Twitch on a daily basis i mean. I guess time will tell.

The Shadowgate remake - Out now on Steam!

shadowgate
Guess who´s back? That´s, Shadowgate baby!

Back in 1987 there was a really awesome point-and-click adventure game for the NES named "Shadowgate" (developed by ICOM Simulations, Inc.). Well, Shadowgate has had a very strong fan community (that´s also one of the reasons why Shadowgate got released to many different formats) since the very start (the fans has keept the Shadowgate spirit alive over the years).

And that´s probably why Zojoi was able to collect over $137,000 in total via Kickstarter back in 2012. Awesome indeed, but it get´s better. Because today a fan informed me (us) that the Shadowgate Remake has been released on Steam (there´s even a 10% price-cut at the moment).

And the game is all yours for 17,99 Euro. So if you are a fan of Shadowgate (or adventure games for that matter), then you should pickup the remake of Shadowgate asap!

***Thank you Fernando Zavaleta Bustos for the tip!***

About Shadowgate:
Shadowgate is one of the most well-known and beloved point-and-click adventure titles in gaming history. As one of the original titles in the popular MacVenture series that went on to be celebrated on the NES, GBC and Nintendo 64, Shadowgate quickly endeared players with its fantastic atmospheric soundtrack, perilous locations to progress through, countless puzzles to solve, and more ways to gruesomely die than gamers previously thought possible.

Thrust into the role of "The Seed of Prophecy," players travel deep into the living castle, in hopes of defeating the evil that dwells within – the dreaded Warlock Lord. Now, nearly 30 years after the original version haunted Mac and NES gamers, the original development team behind that timeless classic is back with a full re-imagining of the original Shadowgate.

Much more than a port, the team at Zojoi has painstakingly redesigned the game from the ground up, adding in tons of new mind-bending puzzles, lots of new rooms with stunning hand-painted 2D graphical detail, and more objects to interact with and help you along your quest. Decide how YOU want to play this new, re-imagined Shadowgate! Want the quintessential experience?

Employ the Classic command system or turn on the retro soundtrack, text box, and room transitions. Want a more cinematic experience? Switch to Immersive mode by auto-hiding the UI and using customizable hotkeys to explore the castle. Or mix and match the options to satisfy your play style. In Shadowgate, there are plenty of new features and fun throwbacks to the original version to satisfy veteran adventurers and newcomers alike!

Our Kingdom Hearts 3 wishlist

kingdomhearts3 logo
Kingdom Hearts 3 will be released to both PS4 and Xbox One.
Kingdom Hearts has become a staple in the hearts of many fans, both Disney, and RPG alike. What started as a simple action adventure RPG has blossomed into a plethora of merchandise, apparel, comics, soundtracks, and even real Sea Salt Popsicles. Yes Sea Salt Popsicles are real, and you can make them yourself. Knowing that the newest entry into the beloved series is coming to a release date is the best thing that hopeful fans have.

There are a lot of loose rumors concerning Kingdom Hearts 3, but I’ve come up with a few that should definitely happen for the upcoming title. Now whether or not you’ll agree, you can certainly rest assured that Kingdom Hearts won’t leave us unsatisfied with its final decisions.

Gameplay, score, and theme all play an equally important part in the games conception—which on all accounts equals commercial and critical acclaim. Here’s our list on what need to be included in Kingdom Hearts 3.

Robin Williams tribute

It’s unfortunate, and very sad that we’ll never get to hear his iconic voice again. Robin Williams was one of the best talents of his generation, as well as important public figure. And with Aladdin probably being an important staple in the series, we can be certain we’ll see Genie in Kingdom Hearts 3. Nintendo still isn’t being clear on whether or not they’ll include him in a Zelda title, but Disney certainly should be.

Aladdin saw huge commercial success in 1992, grossing over $502 million dollars, with a mere budget of $28 million. It received massive critical acclaim, and won numerous awards, mainly for its soundtrack. Without Robin Williams, none of these classical characters would have ever reached prominence.

No return to Atlantica

I can’t be the only one who hates what they did to the Little Mermaid in Kingdom Hearts 2. It wasn’t so bad in the first Kingdom Hearts, since we actually did something useful, such as fighting sharks, and kill Ursula. However in the sequel, when we returned to Atlantica, we saw ourselves dancing, using QTE’s to keep up with the beat, and the rhythm of the song.

I can’t even begin to tell you how annoying the beat of “under the sea” got, as you traversed the surrounding area, or fought the heartless throughout the campaign. We shouldn’t have a real reason to return to Atlantica, and if we do we should see progression in the form of Ariel’s daughter being an essential character now.

Updated version of Disney

Alice in Wonderland has a sequel, and we even have two new princesses: Merida, and Tiana. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that we’ll see the update in Kingdom Hearts 3. Even if we only receive Easter eggs, we should still see progression in the Disney inclusion of the franchise. Seeing Star Wars, or even Brave being a central part of the game could alter Kingdom Hearts history.

Sora is the protagonist

Understanding that Sora and Riku were cohesive counterparts in Kingdom Hearts 3DS, is important as well as frustrating. Honestly the only thing that was more annoying than having to jump between the two, was the fact that the ending pissed a lot of fans off. If you haven’t played that particular installment yet, we’ll leave that part out.

Having Sora as the protagonist is only fitting, since the story revolves around him as we’ve seen in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep. The Keyblade didn’t choose Sora originally, it was actually destined for someone else, but fell to him. Sora becoming a Keyblade master, was the best part of the story—until everyone started using them including Kairi. Once this started happening, we were certain that the series was headed for a tailspin with no way back.

Showcase more Disney rides

The only reason to go to Disneyland besides the food is the rides! What makes their inclusion to the game so essential is as we’ve seen their ability to help Sora fight bosses, and get to higher places. We’ve already seen Casey Jones train, and Pegasus in screenshots, and the cinematic trailer. If we see rollercoaster rides, and possibly even Cinderella’s castle, it would be a monument to Disney’s reputation.

These are just a few of the things we should see in Kingdom Hearts 3, but there are so many more. What are your thoughts on what we should see in Kingdom Hearts 3? Let us know in the comments, and share this post.

Kingdom Heats 3 is in development and is coming soon.

The Legend of Zelda X Mario Kart 8 - The AOC Pack

mario kart 8 dlc
Peach = Kawaii overload :3

Not so long ago people laughed at Nintendo and their Wii U console. Well, now people laugh with them instead, while playing Mario Kart 8. But who can blame them for that really? Because not only are Mario Kart 8 THE best Mario Kart game in the series so far (imo), but it´s also one of the best racing/party games out there.

So i´m not that much surprised to hear that people went nuts when Nintendo (accidently?) leaked some images for their upcoming Mario Kart 8 DLC (AOC Pack). Which will include 3 new characters (Zelda, Tanooki Mario and Cat Peach), 4 new carts and 8 new courses.

And from what i´ve have heard, this DLC will be released on the 30th of November. It seems like the UK version are all sold out though? So that makes me wonder if it´s the same thing in the rest of the world as well?

About The Legend of Zelda X Mario Kart 8 DLC:
Includes 3 characters; Tanooki Mario, Cat Peach and Link. 4 vehicles including the Blue Falcon kart representing the F-Zero franchise. 8 course packs including classics like Wario’s Gold Mine from Mario Kart Wii,as well as the world of The Legend of Zelda.

Mega Coin Squad are like a mix of Super Mario Bros, Robot Unicorn (all the colors and the feeling of being injected with digital acid) and Mega Man.
So, yeah. I´m most definitely going to record more videos for Mega Coin Squad =)

And i hope you guys will enjoy them ;)

Maple Story 2 is coming in 2014

maplestory logo
Maple Story 2 are a whole nother story from the first game.

Maple Story was one of the biggest online MMO’s back in 2004-2008 with my circle of friends. I still remember all the hacks and mods people were able to access, to gain new levels, and get infinite ninja stars as they continued to leap through the levels and ascend the ranks. In development since 2010, the new Maple Story takes the leap from 2D to full 3D.

MapleStory 2 takes place before the events of the original MapleStory, and will include wall-climbing, driving, and swimming. It looks like a vast improvement over the prior iteration. Later this year, Nexon will release the game in a closed beta, and release it exclusively to the rest of the world at an undisclosed date in the future.

Maple Story is one of the most prolific games of our generation, and it will receive a very high acclaim upon its release. With the way League of Legends, and other MMO’s such as Dota 2 are performing well beyond the spectrum, it’s no surprise that Nexon is bringing Maple Story back in black.

Who’s an old school Maple Story fan and will be checking out the beta? Let us know in the comments.

Pokken Tournament is Nintendo's Tekken

pokken tournament
Double uppercut = Double the pain.

Pokken Tournament is Nintendo’s newest entity for the Pokémon franchise, in 3D form. It puts your favorite Pokémon characters on a stage set and they face off for the title of strongest fighter. Both of the producers from the Tekken, and Soul Calibur series Katsuhiro Harada and Maasaki Hoshino are working on the game respectively.

So far there is no western release, or a planned release for consoles in Japan. The game is coming to arcades in Japan exclusively, but of course we will most likely see more reveals coming soon, especially at the Tokyo Game Show.

One of the biggest questions fans most likely have, is whether the entire roster will be available, or only the original 150+. If we do get the original roster, we can rest assured Mew and Mewto will be there.

With what we can take away from the trailer, certain Pokémon will retain their nobility, and fighting prowess. Pokémon such as Hitmonlee and Hitmontop will obviously be in a class all by themselves as kickers.

Whereas, Machoke, and Machop will be heavy hitters and grapplers. It will be a very exciting game for Nintendo when it releases, and it’s unfortunate that we won’t see it on Playstation or Xbox.

However in the classic Nintendo fashion, we shouldn’t be surprised if we see any Namco characters getting added to the roster like Pacman, or even Tekken characters. Hopefully we’ll get customization, and unique effects as well.

Pokken Tournament is currently in development and is scheduled for release in Japanese arcades in 2015.

Nice weather + Colossalcon = Epic win!

But wait?! What IS cosplay? It is a hobby of dressing up as an anime, video game, comic book or any type of character that exist fictional or real, it is a growing community and is an international hobby around the world, even having celebrities slowly dress up at conventions like SDCC. Now, let me give the run down of this Convention.

Uniqueness: Located at a water resort called Kalahari is one of its well known features of this con. Luckily this con lets cosplayers shoot at the waterpark sections which makes wonderful photos with its amazing scenery.

They also have a area where you can see animals such as birds, goats and even petting baby tiger cubs! They also have an event called the Otaku Flea Market where con goers can just sit down and start selling their animes and otaku merchandises as long as it is anime or video game related you can sell it! These major things I mentioned is the major reason why Colossalcon is a must-go on your list of conventions!

The long dark - A FPS post-disaster survival simulator

the long dark
Do you have what it takes to survive in The long dark?

The fear of the unknown has always been a great source to (and for) horror related movies, books and video games. And the precence of the unknown are very strong in Hinterland Games FPS survival horror game "The long dark".

A game that made me think about a mix of Alan Wake, Alone in the Dark and The Shining. A really pleasent mix really. Well, at least if you get your kicks from scaring yourself half to death. But obviously there´s quite a few of that kind in this world.

Becaouse The long dark collected over $256,000 in total via Kickstarter last year. And i just heard that The long dark are set for a Steam Early Access release in September this year. So if you like horror games, then keep your eyes open for The long dark!

About The long dark:
How Far Will You Go to Survive? Imagine the lights go out, never to return. Bright aurora flare across the sky, and all humanity’s technological might is laid to waste, neutralized in a kind of quiet apocalypse. Everything that has shielded humanity from the disinterested power of Mother Nature is suddenly wrenched from us, dropping us a few links down the food chain.

Food and water are scarce. The roads are no longer safe. And winter approaches… Welcome to The Long Dark —an immersive survival simulation set in the aftermath of a geomagnetic disaster. Experience a unique first-person survival simulation that will force you to think and push you to your limits with its thought-provoking gameplay and mature storytelling.

ABZÛ - A epic adventure that takes place in the deep ocean

abzu
ABZÛ are a PS4 exclusive game at the moment. But Giant Squid hopes to release it to other formats in the future.

I don´t know if you guys missed out on Giant Squid´s ocean adventure game "ABZÛ" at E3. But i sure didn´t. But then again, i like games such as "Ecco the Dolphin" and "Endless Ocean". Because i find those kind of games to be very relaxing and magical (the oceans are very magical and beautiful imo).

And ABZÛ (which are in development for the PS4) seems to have quite a lot of potential. One thing´s for sure though. It´s a very creative and beautiful game. So i really hope that ABZÛ (AB = "Ocean", ZU = "To know") will make it´s way to PC as well.

If not, then i guess that i´ll just have to buy a PS4 (i planned to do so anyways).

About ABZÛ:
"We are very excited to give you an early glimpse of ABZÛ, Giant Squid's first project. http://abzugame.com. ABZÛ will take players on an epic adventure into the depths of the ocean, where they will encounter majestic creatures and discover long lost secrets. The game draws inspiration from a deep, innate story that we all carry in our collective subconscious, a universal origin myth that resonates across cultures. As such, the name ABZÛ references a concept from the oldest Mesopotamian mythology: it is the combination of two ancient words Ab, meaning ocean, and Zû, meaning to know. Essentially, ABZÛ is the ocean of wisdom.

ABZÛ is being developed by Giant Squid, is a recently formed independent video game studio based in Santa Monica, CA. The team is led by the vision of multi-award winning Creative Director Matt Nava. Known for his stunning work as the Art Director at thatgamecompany, Nava was a core contributor to the beautiful and internationally acclaimed titles Flower and Journey.

Flower was one of the first video games to be officially added to the permanent art collection of The Smithsonian American Art Museum, an event that helped cement the medium of games as an art form in the public consciousness. Winner of more than 33 Game of the Year and multiple Best Art Direction Awards, Journey is a testament to Nava's ability to communicate deeply moving narrative through visual and interactive design. Nava has also been twice included on the prestigious Forbes "30 Under 30" list of top young game industry talent."

I have suspected for quite some time now that there´s been something really rotten in the video game industry. I was right. Corruption, bribes and sex scandals, you name it!

The Zoe Quinn scandal has has shaken the whole industry. And something tells me that this is just the tip of the iceberg. Because there seems to be a lot of people involved in this scandal.

In fact, one guy (developer) bashed us on Twitter last night (becouse we wrote the "Zoe Quinn: Why the Quinnspiracy is questionable" article).

So that´s what i´m talking about in this video. So, enjoy people ;)

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker - Toads solo game

captain toad treasure tracker
A Nintendo platform game that takes place in the world of Super Mario. But there will be no Super Mario in Captain Toad. Wait, say what!?

There´s a lot of doubters, haters and rants about Nintendos Wii U game "Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker" (which are set for a Q1 2015 release). Most of the negative vibes comes from that hardcore Super Mario fans though. They just can´t accept the fact that there´s no Super Mario in Captain Toad.

They just refuse to see past that part, and see Captain Toad for what it is. And that´s really sad i think. Because the game looks pretty promising. This whole thing actually made me think about that one time when Daxter (from Jak and Daxter) stared in his very own video game (it was called "Daxter").

And that game turned out really well. I´m just trying to say that Captain Toad doesn't necessarily need to become a shitty game. Captain Toad might actually turn out just fine. Besides, there´s a lot of talented people working on Captain Toad.

People such as Yoshiaki Koizumi. Which just happens to have worked on titles such as:
- The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
- Super Mario Galaxy 1, 2
- Super Smash Bros. Brawl
- Super Mario 64
- And many, many other famous Nintendo games

So don´t turn down Captain Toad just yet. I also think that it´s the kind of game that needs time to get accepted by the players (especially the Super Mario fans).

But what do you guys think about Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker so far?

About Captain Toad:
The intrepid Captain Toad sets off on his own adventure for the very first time through a wide variety of tricky, enemy-infested, maze-like stages to find hidden gems and nab elusive gold stars.

Bloodborne - Welcome to the sickness

ps4 bloodborne
Bloodborne will be released sometime next year (exclusively to the PS4).

Even though Sony are having a really rough time right now (the PSN DDOS attack, and the bomb threats against SOE president John Smedley). There´s no way in hell that i´m turning down PS3 and the PS4 (i´m getting both in the near future).

Because there´s a rock solid lineup of awesome games coming out to both the PS3 and PS4. Like FromSoftware´s (the makers of Dark Souls 1 and 2, Chromehounds and Demon's Souls) PS4 exclusive action/RPG game "Bloodborne".

Imo, Bloodborn looks (and feels) like a mix of Dark Souls and Nightmare Creatures (but with RPG elements to it). So, yeah. I can´t wait to give Bloodborne a go!

About Bloodborne:
Introducing Bloodborne, the latest Action RPG from renowned Japanese developer FromSoftware, makers of the hit Dark Souls series, coming exclusively to the PlayStation®4 system. Face your fears as you search for answers in the ancient city of Yharnam, now cursed with a strange endemic illness spreading through the streets like wildfire. Danger, death and madness lurk around every corner of this dark and horrific world, and you must discover its darkest secrets in order to survive.

Interwebs troll simulator - It´s time to become a troll!

interwebs troll simulator
The ultimate troll simulator game?

Ah, yes. Trolls, they have been lurking on internet since the dawn of time. They hate everything and everyone, and spit out more negative and hateful comments than anyone else on this planet. Because their whole existence relays on that kind of behaviour.

That´s simply what a troll lives and feeds on. Hate, they breath it 24/7. And there´s probably not one single person (that uses internet on a daily basis) on this planet that haven't encountered a internet troll by now. Let´s face it, whether we like it or not.

The trolls lurk on the internet in the search of a victim (or two). But what makes the trolls clock tick? And how does a troll think and live? Well, we might find that out in Michael Patrick Rogers new game "Interwebs troll simulator" (for PC, and soon MAC and Linux as well"

Because you get the chance to see (and experience) the world through the eyes of a troll in Interwebs troll simulator. So, are you ready to become one with your inner internet troll?

What is Interwebz Troll Simulator??

Interwebz TROLL Simulator is a unique game that transcends genres. Is it a simulator? Is it a comedy? Is it political satire? Is it dead serious?? Is it educational?? Is it even a video game????

Interwebz TROLL Simulator is exactly the opposite of what it sounds, while being exactly what it appears to be!!

Interwebz Troll Simulator gives YOU the power to unleash your Trolling skills, literally with your Troll’sh fingertips. How will you Troll? Will you Troll as a “Know it all Troll”, will you be a “Sexist Homophobe Troll”? It’s totally up to you, and no play through experience is ever the same. Prepare yourself to get educated.

PSN gets DDOS attacked, bomb threats and the FBI manhunt

playstation network
PSN has been DDOS attacked several times over in the last 24 hours.

Just when you thought that the video game industry couldn´t possibly become much darker that it already is. Yet another dark cloud hovers over the world of Gaming. In fact, two clouds even. The first one concers the fact that PSN has been down for quite some time now.

And that's because someone (LizardSquadcame up with the brilliant idea to DDOS attack the Playstation Network (seriously people, don´t be asshats. Just enjoy the games like everyone else). Then we got cloud number 2, which would be the bomb threat against SOE president John Smedley.

Something which effected American Airlines and the plane that John Smedley travled with. And after that "little" incident, Smedley tweeted this:

"Yes. My plane was diverted. Not going to discuss more than that. Justice will find these guys." - SOE president, John Smedley

So now FBI are on the case.

"The FBI is currently handling the situation at this time. We have no further comment," Sony told GameInformer

And from what i've heard, there´s plenty of other people that's trying to hunt down the people that´s responsible for all this as well (fans, white hats and so on). There´s a lot of things that´s unclear at the moment. But one things for sure, there will be one hell of a digital manhunt for the onese who caused all this damge to Sony.

Avenging Angel - A steampunk action adventure game

avenging angel
Because dual wielding are cool as hell.

It seems like the Steampunk genre are on a hot streak at the moment. Because i have honestly lost count over all the Steampunk games that´s in the making at the moment. But i don´t mind having a lot of Steampunk games around, as long as the games are really good and well made.

And that seems to be the case with Dark Amber Softworks Steampunk action/adventure game "Avenging Angel" (the game will be released for PC and Linux during the first quarter of next year). And luckely enough for us there´s a pre-alpha demo of Avenging Angel.

So if you like the trailer for Avenging Angel. Then you should download the demo via IndieDB asap! And don´t forget to support the game on Steam Greenlight.

Zoe Quinn: Why the Quinnspiracy is questionable

zoe quinn
Zoe Quinn in person.

Note: I want to be extremely clear. This post is in no way an attack on Zoe Quinn on a personal level. We don’t represet misogyny, or repressive organizatons. What this post represents is an affront upon her ethics as a Game developer, and a public figure. Her responsibility as someone who cares about her position on gaming, and her relationships that have helped her to get to where she is now.

For the past week, I’ve read, and seen coverage on Zoe Quinn. If you don’t know who she is, I’ll fill you in on the spark notes version of her. Zoe Quinn is a indie game developer, who’s sparked a lot of controversy in the gaming community recently due to her relationships with certain people in the industry. These alleged relationships, have helped to boost her publicity, and helped to make her game Depression Quest sell very well on Steam.

The truth is, Zoe Quinn is a feminist, and due to her being backed in the feminist community by fellow journalists such as Anita Sarkeesian, and several others including Dina from Mighty no. 9, she’s been able to garner attention to her cause by destroying her opposition’s reputations and credibility. The worst part about this controversy is that she believes that her crusade isn’t endangering anyone, or their rights protected by the laws governing the freedom of speech, or the press.

depression quest
Zoe Quinn´s game "Depression Quest".

But there’s an underlying issue that we have to face as Journalists, and gaming enthusiasts. In the last 10 years, corruption of the press, news media, and the printed news, have become the standard. Popular publications we all know and love, give games high praise, and ratings in return for ad revenue, and continued support of their efforts. But that’s not all we’re talking about today. Let’s get into what makes the Quinnspiracy so controversial, and how her ethics have smeared our belief in justice, and journalistic freedom.

The entire controversy started over her relationship with Nathan Grayson, who is a writer at Rockpapershotgun, and Kotauk. The relationship was exposed by her ex-boyfriend, in his blog dedicated to her infidelity, and desperation to cling to the fact that as a female game developer, she deserved respect and a sense of accomplishment for doing nothing at all. In fact Rock paper shotgun, and Kotaku came to her aid when she was being harassed by people in the social media communities.

When her relationship with Nathan Grayson was finally exposed, the two sheepishly admitted it, however Stephen Totilo, Kotaku’s Editor in Chief refused to comment about the situation until after he was off of a 3 week vacation. When he finally did address the situation he had this to say:

”On March 31, Nathan published the only Kotaku article he's written involving Zoe Quinn. It was about Game Jam, a failed reality show that Zoe and other developers were upset about being on. At the time, Nathan and Zoe were professional acquaintances. He quoted blog posts written by Zoe and others involved in the show. Shortly after that, in early April, Nathan and Zoe began a romantic relationship. He has not written about her since. Nathan never reviewed Zoe Quinn's game Depression Quest, let alone gave it a favorable review. Given the information available to us both from Nathan and all sources presented online, I have no reason to believe any further action need be taken. The situation is fraught for all involved, including our readers, whose trust is paramount; inquiry is always welcome.”

kotaku logo
So much for the "fair and balanced" reviews...

Now to be fair, as an Editor in Chief you are the boss. If you have an employee who is misconducting themselves professionally around an associate of your online publication, it can cause problems. But why weren’t there any hard actions taken place to discourage this type of behavior among his other employees, especially after he talked about the “Information made available by BOTH Nathan, and all sources presented online.”

All one would have to do is take a look at Zoe, and Nathan’s social media pages to discover how they felt about the situation, and furthermore feel about their readers, and fans.

This shows us that Stephen Totilo is ok with Nathan Grayson, and Zoe Quinns relationship, which was going on longer than what was told. The reason why he’s ok with it, is that this controversy boosts visitors, and increases clicks per article, which increases revenue share. Zoe Quinn receives a publicity boost, and an ally to find a new job as a game developer.

internet communities
When 6 internet communities (which normally hate each other) agree that there´s something rotten in the video game industry (read "Gaming journalism"). Then it's dead serious.

The biggest reason people are up in arms about their relationship is because Nathan Grayson didn’t recuse himself when they began to explore an acquaintance, or a romantic relationship. This would have put our doubts to rest on the issue of their intentions for our views, and reactions to the revelation.

What makes us question her ethics the most is the fact that her indie project "Rebel Jam" shares her personal Paypal account with her Paetron. How does she separate which funds are for what? She doesn’t, and that means she’s stealing from those who are supporters of her belief of a new project that will “eventually” happen. It wouldn’t be so bad if people weren’t being shunned into early retirement like Phil fish, who recently announced he was leaving the gaming world for personal reasons, and the safety of his family.

phil fish
Phil Fish, another piece of the "Gaming scandal" puzzle?

The journalism world needs to take a step back, and explain itself. Why is it that we—the people have to listen to this constant dribble in politics, news media, and now even on the fifth estate?! I’ve seen some compare this situation to the Nixon Watergate scandal, and while I’ll say it’s not that dire, can we truly believe that there’s hope for the future of gaming and journalism? If there is, we need to start holding people accountable for their actions just as we do with murder, and some politicians.

In closing I will say this, if Zoe Quinn wants to earn true appreciation for her work she needs to do the following:

Stop being the victim of nothing

What I mean is that lots of people are discredited for their efforts, but they don’t stop. If women did this all over the world we’d have never seen their introduction to the military, or politics. The French revolution helped to re-invision what women’s roles were, and how important they were to the public, and the crown.

Now im not a mysoginist, in any way. But I will say this, when a woman screams she’s a victim especially in the workplace she receives attention, justice, and most of the time money. When a man does it, he gets a pat on the back, and an “It’ll get better” speech. In fact many men are afraid to report sexual assaults by women due to fear of embarrassment. However by her own definition in The Zoe Post, she sexually assaulted her ex-boyfriend, and doesn’t regret it.

Create something people want

I don’t even have to say it out loud, who would want to play Depression Quest?! For namesake alone, it doesn’t sound appealing, nor does it make sense to “raise awareness,” for suicide victims. If she really wanted to raise awareness to a cause such as depression, she could have created a story arch for the game, or even a cutscene with a real phone number. Or gone the old fashioned way, and simply donated to the cause itself.

Make love not war

After this scandal exposed almost a week ago, Zoe has launched a crusade, against anyone who tries to debunk her claims about her victimization. She’s caused people who have social media pages to become banned, reddit visitors comments to be whited out, and even had them fired from their jobs for talking about the situation.

For someone who doesn’t want to make waves, it sure does look as if a tsunami is crashing toward anyone who has an opinion of this situation. The goal of this post wasn’t to launch a social attack on Zoe Quinn, but to expose her for what she truly is: a misjudged game developer, who made bad choices for her career.

If she intends to continue this trend, only ruin will result, and she won’t be able to establish relationships that will be lucrative, and promotional to her growth within the industry. In essence she’ll become lost to the sea until a new fish is caught upon the hook of a gaming studio.

Fore!

With Tiger Woods off EA’s roster for 2014, there is space in the market for a new golf game, enter the HB Studios developed Golf Club.

A stripped back, true-to-life title, Golf Club is about just one thing – and no surprises for guessing what – golf. There are no gimmicks, no power-ups or arcadey attributes to earn. There are no mini-games, no shot trajectory preview, nor the ability to change the spin of the ball mid-flight. There isn’t even a catalogue of professional golfers to choose from.

Sound dull? Well, it’s not. Or at least not totally. Golf Club might lack a number of features we have come to expect from EA’s leading golf series, but it makes up for it with something else impressive, a massively expansive course creator.

With a lack of officially licensed courses, Golf Club is what you – and the wider Golf Club community – make of it. Building our own course was simple and allowed us as much or as little freedom as we wanted.

There are a number of themes to the course creator, from an alpine and desert settings to rural and links layouts, and once selected, this base could quickly be manipulated to be as hilly and foliage filled or bereft as desired.

Avoid shooting the ball into the forest. Or else you will end up with a really bad handicap.

These quick selections create the randomised base for your course and its 18 holes. Not like the layout, no worries, we were quickly able to alter the course as desired. Within a matter of minutes we were able to add bunkers, camber, water hazards and narrow the fairway down in points to add a bit more of a challenge to the course.

With the ability to jump in and out of the course creator to test the custom course at will, it is easy to sample what you’re making and adjust the layout and hazards accordingly.

In terms of gameplay, Golf Club's focus is solely on perfecting the mechanic of the game. There's no way of levelling up your player's abilities and there are no purchaseable clubs with which to improve your range or accuracy either.

Therefore, Golf Club is not the most forgiving of games. Early use saw us pull and shank the ball in all directions. Half an hour with controller in hand and there is a satisfying learning curve to the game. We by no means perfected the swing but were having far more success than we were at the start.

This difficulty and ever growing range of playable courses should keep what is relatively basic and repetitive gameplay enjoyable for a longer period. Although offering a sense of achievement in striking a good ball, this semi-serious nature will likely deter some of the more casual gamers drawn into the better known Tiger Woods series.

Ultimately this is a game for true golfing enthusiasts.

Week One - A uniq zombie survival board game

week one
How long will you be able to survive?

There seems to be some kind of new trend going on right now. Because just a year ago. There was pretty much no zombie board games at all (at least not to my knowledge). But now all of a sudden. There seems to be a new zombie board game on Kickstarter each week (pretty much).

So what makes Meraki Concepts "Week One" different from all the other zombie board games then? Well, a whole lot really. So it´s really sad that the game didn't make it on Kickstarter. I don´t know if Week One will be funded some other way though (paypal, indiegogo and so on).

Because i think that it would be really sad if Week One just fades away...

About Week One Zombie Survival Game:
"In the past, I've played plenty of zombie games. But I have never really gotten the scope and size of a true survival game in any of them. Zombies were always single models. There were only a few buildings. You could get an item from any searchable area. Thus, the games never felt like you were actually surviving anything, but just shooting zombies over and over and looting the same building until you found something you liked.

So my friends and I set out to create a game of significantly larger proportions and scope. Titled, "Week One" it's the first week after all the dust has settled and the major outbreak is over. (Plus, expansions are easily titled as, "Week Two" etc.) Every game is seven (7) days, each with a day and night cycle. These cycles produce various environmental effects and can reduce your party's overall sanity. (Yes, characters have an insane side!) At the end of those seven days, your remaining party members are rescued by the military who are evacuating civilians.

What happens during those days and nights? Well, you need food, weapons, ammo, and most of all, you need to keep your sanity. Oh, and zombies aren't just single models. No sir. They range from 1-5 zombies per token, as many tokens as can fit in a square! Each day has the players surrounded by an ever increasing horde of zombies all marching towards the players' Safe House, the place where the military is going to pick them up. Can they survive all seven days? Will any players succumb to insanity? Will it be a shoot out or a hold up in a building? In addition, random missions occur throughout the days to help keep the games fresh and dynamic."
