In just 6 days (and 11 hours) Harebrained schemes will release their Director's Cut version of Shadowrun: Dragonfall (via Steam for example). And i will of course pick that one up on the release date. And yes, i will of course record it asap!

I just hope that the Director's Cut version will live up to all the hypé. But so far, it seems like both the players (and media) loves the game. And i have to say that Harebrained schemes have added quite a few new features to the Director's Cut edition (you will find a complete list down below!).

So, will you buy Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director's Cut?

About Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director’s Cut:
Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director’s Cut is a standalone release of Harebrained Schemes' critically-acclaimed Dragonfall campaign, which first premiered as a major expansion for Shadowrun Returns. The Director's Cut adds a host of new content and enhancements to the original game: 5 all-new missions, alternate endings, new music, a redesigned interface, team customization options, a revamped combat system, and more - making it the definitive version of this one-of-a-kind cyberpunk RPG experience.

NOTE: The Director’s Cut is free to existing owners of the Dragonfall expansion for Shadowrun Returns. It will be automatically added to your Steam Library when the game is released.

New in Director´s cut:

Standalone: Due to popular demand, Dragonfall is now a completely standalone title!

Five All-New Missions: The Director’s Cut features five all-new original missions, including three related directly to the personal stories of your team members. These missions take you to previously-unseen locales - both within the Flux State and beyond - where you’ll have to face challenging enemies and make tough choices in order to help your team members prevail.

Revamped Combat System: The Dragonfall combat system has received a major overhaul. An all-new armor system adds another tactical layer to the experience, while refined cover and damage mechanics emphasize the importance of battlefield positioning. Complementing these improvements is an upgraded AI system which reacts more intelligently and accurately to your actions.

Redesigned Interface: The Dragonfall in-game interface has also been rebuilt. Spells, items and abilities are now much easier to access, while improved combat feedback allows you to fully understand the tactical situation in any given encounter.

Customize Your Team: Guide your team members as they progress in each of their unique roles, choosing between different focus options to grant them new items and abilities. In addition, if you don’t like a team member’s default spell, item or weapon loadout, you can now customize what they bring on each mission.

Ten New Pieces of Original Music: Fan-favorite composer Jon Everist brings ten new tracks of moody cyberpunk music to the Dragonfall experience, including compositions based on the stories of individual members of your team.

The Complete Dragonfall Soundtrack: As a free bonus, the Director’s Cut includes the entire soundtracks from both Dragonfall AND our previous title, Shadowrun Returns. This also includes the brand new tracks exclusive to the Director’s Cut. Featuring music from the composers of the classic Shadowrun SEGA and SNES games, this exciting cyberpunk soundtrack pays homage to the past with a modern sentiment.

And Much More:
Steam Achievements!

Warlocks wins the community award at WGK 2014

warlocks
Warlocks are a RPG/brawler action game for PC, MAC, Linux and Wii U.

Things are going rather well for the Polish indie developer studio One More Level. Because not only did they win the community award at WGK 2014. They have also launched a Kickstarter campaign (just recently) for their game "Warlocks" (which are set for a Q2 2015 release).

And the goal would be to collect $25,000 (One More Level has collected $4,400 so far). A goal which i believe they will reach. Not only becouse there´s still 21 days left on the Kickstarter watch. But simply because Warlocks deserves to happen.

And IF things goes well. There might even be a Xbox One and PS4 release of Warlocks. That would be pretty cool huh? But don´t take my word for it. Try the playable browser demo of Warlocks instead!

Press release:
September 9 2014, Kraków, Poland – Today Polish developer One More Level is proud to announce that Warlocks won the Developers Showcase Community Award at WGK 2014 and that the game is now headed to Nintendo Wii U.

Warlocks is an action RPG/brawler game set in a fantasy world invaded by shadow monsters. Playing as an incredibly powerful Warlock and, by using magic skills and weapons, you fight through hordes of enemies. The game places great focus on co-op and versus play between players, where you can fight in 1-4 player DeathMatch or in teams of 1v1 or 2v2.

In singleplayer/co-op campaign you have to clear your way through the 6 different dimensions with unique enemies, bosses, and environments. You level up your character by slaying evil monsters and getting better and better items.

One Level Games is hard at work on Warlocks, taking all feedback into consideration and polishing the game even more. Max Strzelecki, lead programmer for the game, is thrilled about this new opportunity:

"Programming was something I picked from my grandfather’s friend who was a professional programmer. As a kid, I always wanted to know how it worked, and I soon found myself doing it on my own. Since both me and my best friend Dushan shared a strong passion for video games, making our own one was only a matter of
time."

Max, who was born with no arms, didn't let that get in the way of making his dream come true:

"My disability has never been a major obstacle in my life, because that's how I decided to treat it. I hope my work can inspire other people to pursue their dreams and take control of their lives. Whatever your problems are, you have to look past them and focus on what you want to achieve. Only then can you succeed and do something great."

Game features:
- Pixel art graphics
- 1-4 players (co-op, versus)
- Online co-op mode
- Procedurally generated loot
- 6 different worlds to explore
- 10 playable characters with different gameplay

Dragons and Titans - The titan pass

dragons and titans
Wyrmbyte combats the “Pay to Win model" with Dragons and Titans.

There will be no more microtransactions in Wyrmbyte´s F2P MOBA game "Dragons and Titans". And yes, it´s the final say on the subject. Wyrmbyte has also stated that they will combat the "Pay to win" model (which we all hate with deep passion).

Instead, Wyrmbyte will present a new player-friendly business model for the Dragons and Titans players. Which would be "play for free or buy all content for a low, one-time price". So there you have it. So if you like the "Titan pass" video, then you might wanna give the game a chance (you can download Dragons and Titans via Steam).

Press release:
Austin, TX -- September 10, 2014 -- Indie developer Wyrmbyte today announced that it has changed the business model for its free-to-play MOBA, Dragons & Titans, by removing all microtransactions in the game, so that the game is truly skill-based and can not be confused as pay-to-win. This announcement comes hot on the heels of several huge game improvements that were implemented recently including a more user friendly control scheme, reduced match waiting times, improved maps, and tons of balance changes.

In an attempt to lure older players back and to get more new people playing and competing in the game, Wyrmbyte also launched a value pack of all current in-game content called the Titan Pass, the value of which is over $650 worth of goods (if purchased in the old microtransaction model) for just $19.99 . The Titan Pass, includes: 35+ tier 1 dragons, 35+ weapons, 18 different avatars, 57 skins, all four single- player story ‘Acts’ and more, as well as all the new content regularly scheduled for a full year.

Additionally for 1 year, Titan Pass owners will earn four times the number of crystals (in-game currency) per match, which will allow them to upgrade their dragons and weapons at an increased pace. The Titan Pass will be available for sale from September 9th for $19.99/£14.99/€ 19.99 respectively and a newly released trailer summarizes all the content players will get: http://youtu.be/sl4DpMWLL2E

A free version of Dragons and Titans is still available where players can get access to dragons through a rotating selection of 1st tiers dragons and weapons. This version of the game also has no microtransactions, and progression relies on playing and earning in-game crystals which they can use towards getting higher tiered dragons and weapons - similar to Titan Pass owners. However, they will not have access to all the avatars, skins and the single player campaigns, Acts 2, 3, and 4, all of which is exclusive content for Titan Pass owners.

“The community has spoken, and we want to make our players happy. So we’ve dropped the microtransaction model completely to turn Dragons & Titans into a truly free-to-play game where in-game progression is based purely on skill and not on how much money people pay”, said Scott Brown, President of Wyrmbyte. “By making what may seem to be a drastic move, we are actually trying to battle the ‘pay to win’ stigma that pervades the free-to-play market right now and encourage more people to play in the game and compete with current gamers”.

As a thank you to existing players, the Wyrmbyte team will be rewarding those players who have spent over $20 in the game prior to this change with the Veterans Dragon Pack, a bundle of 10 Random Tier II Dragons (with a value of $150 in the old microtransaction model). Also anyone who has played regularly in the last few months will also be rewarded with an exclusive avatar (different avatars will be awarded for different play length) in recognition for their support.

Hybrid play - Playground 2.0

hybridplay
Hybrid play has been under development since 2008.

I don´t have any kids of my own. But still i can understand that it´s a very stressy life being a parent nowadays. It´s the constant hunt for quality time, spending time with your kids and having some freetime on your own. But let´s say that your a Gamer.

Then you can combine parenting and fun. At least that´s the idea behind Hybrid Play (which are a Spanish made project). Because Hybrid Play (that will run on iOS and Android devices)  will transform your local playground into a interactive video game experience. So now you got no reason not to play with your kids =)

Well, if Hybrid Play reaches it´s goal on Indiegogo that is (The Hybrid Play team will start their indiegogo campaign sometime in the near future). Then the release will take place next Spring. So, i wish Team Hybrid Play the best of luck!

Press release:
Valencia, Spain - September 9th 2014

The Hybrid Play team is proud to announce an Indiegogo crowdfunding project, which will take place in coming weeks. The funding project will seek the resources for producing the first units of Hybrid Play, a system to rediscover urban spaces such as parks and playgrounds, mixing traditional play in the park with video games.

In development since 2008, Hybrid Play is an open source project relying heavily on the community which has been tested in countless workshops, gathering feedback from thousands of kids and parents who will have now the opportunity to take the device back home as they have ever wanted.

The sensor device is placed in the different pieces of equipment in the park, allowing children to became the motion controllers for video games that are played collectively. Put the sensor, download the app for smartphones and tablets (Android compatible, under development for iPhone/iPad) and play! The prototype, an open hardware piece and fully functional in this stage, is comprised of an Arduino electronic platform with a micro-controller and motion/presence detectors.

Available for free, the Hybrid Play app features a wide range of built-in games developed by the Hybrid Play team. Collect space debris with Space Kids and discover all the secrets of Puzzle City, two of the many exclusive Hybrid Play games included with the app. Open source implementations of classic games such as Pac Man, TRON and Pong are also available, so that children can discover retro games in a completely new way.

And aside from the built-in games, Hybrid Play offers a great way for kids to express their creativity through video games, as the system is compatible with Gamesonomy, a visual programming tool. Gamesonomy is a powerful and intuitive editor that allows users without programming skills to create games in the cloud, requiring no additional software or downloads. The games are created online and tested on the phone, with a simple interface that let the kids develop their own games with no limits but their imagination.

"We have been working with Hybrid Play since 2008, developing it together with thousands of kids from many different cultures." said Diego Díaz, lead developer. "Much of the creativity inside the project comes from the kids themselves, who gave and still give us many ideas and new development possibilities. Amazing stories and adventures in which they transform the park and the city in which they live. And soon they'll be able to do it themselves with their parents and educators."

More details on the Indiegogo, which will go live in coming weeks, will be provided soon. Hybrid Play will
be available on Spring 2015.

Six Miles Under - A post-apocalyptic underground 2D brawler

six miles under
Talk about eternal darkness, the underground edition.

There ain´t exactly a all time low of post-apocalyptic games at the moment. But then again, i can´t say that i have seen (or played) that many post-apocalyptic titles that takes place in a underground city. But that´s exactly the case with Looney Bin Studios 2D action/platformer "Six Miles Under".

You (the player) play as Preston Trencher. An enforcer that just happens to have a bounty on his name (he was set-up). So Preston will do anything in his power to clear his name. But the time is running out fast. So some old fashioned revenge will do just fine.

And revenge works pretty well six miles under the ground (obviously). IF Six Miles Under will be able to reach it´s £20,000 Kickstarter goal that is. But if that´s the case. Then there will be a PC, MAC and Linux release in May next year (which will be followed by a Wii U release shortly after).

And oh! Did i mention that Six Miles Under has been given thumbs up on Steam Greenlight? ;)

Press release:
September 4 2014 - Wroclaw, Poland - Looney Bin Studios Ltd have launched their Kickstarter campaign, for Six Miles Under.

In Six Miles Under you play as Preston Trencher, an enforcer trying clear his name and avoiding being taken out thanks to the bounty on his head. Time's running out and with false friends and sloppy killers, there's only one avenue left to take; good old fashioned revenge.

Six Miles Under is set in a dark, dank but enigmatic environment, one that's been ravaged by an unforseen nuclear apocalpyse, forcing all remaining humans to live deep, deep underground. Presenting a slick 2D combat system and diverse counter system, players can use enemies' weapons against them, bury them under a barrage of rocks or even just simply throw them off of a moving train.

The dynamic fight system allows players to keep the action going, keeping the game's hero alive for his journey whilst exploring an underground prison that's turned into a city and last bastion of hope for humanity.

Game Features:
- Dynamic combat system with multitude of enemies and unique boss fights.
- Diverse counter system. Each enemy is countered differently and with different results.
