Night Trap revamped - The game that god forgotcomment_here

Believe it or not. But the original "Night Trap" got released to both Sega CD, 3DO, DOS and MAC. How´s that like even possible?

Oh dear mother of all the Gaming gods...Way back in 1993 Digital Pictures released their so called "game" Night Trap to the SEGA CD (watch AVGN´s SEGA CD video for more info). And i still remember all the hypé and all the ads in the video game magazines.

But when i got the chance to play it during a game jam at the end of 93 (Stockholm). I knew from the very start that Night Trap was pure garbage. It´s not even a game, it´s more like a interactive video than anything else (like "Plumbers don't wear ties" for ex).

And still to this very day, Night Trap are still considered to be one of THE worst video games ever made. So i was quite surprised to hear that the original makers (Digital Pictures) tried to do a remake of Night Trap. But that´s not all, they actually aimed to collect $330,000 via Kickstarter.

That´s like, are you fu**ing kidding me? For real? Why would you even want to make a remake of a crapy game anyway? Most people that remember the game hates it, and the rest just don´t remember it at all. So what´s the point?

That´s right, money talks. But this time, the Kickstarter community showed Night Trap Revamped no mercy. Because on September the 10th, the gamehaven't even reached $40,000. But will this really be the last thing we hear and see from Night Trap Revamped?

I honestly don´t know, or care for that matter. Only the Gaming gods know the answer to that one...

About Night Trap revamped:
The iconic full-motion-video game, placing YOU in the leading role of a horror movie, is set to make its return in a new hi-def format!
A group of teens has arrived at the isolated Martin home for a weekend of fun and partying. But at a house where the sinister hosts possess strange powers, a creepy neighbor has invented a deadly laser weapon, and blood-sucking creatures stalk the hallways, it’s no surprise that good cheer quickly turns to fear. Fortunately for the girls, the heroic agents of the Special Control Attack Team are on the job! As a crack S.C.A.T. operative with a security-camera-guided view of all the action, it’s your job to trigger the traps planted throughout the house and imprison the evil Augers before they can suck the blood of their innocent victims.
Night Trap offers a unique and innovative gaming experience: instead of being set in an animated world, it takes the form of a live-action interactive movie, with the player influencing the events which occur onscreen. In many ways, Night Trap more appropriately belongs in the current world of casual gaming than it did in the amped-up, twitch-factor era of the nineties, when it originally made its debut.

The storyline of the film — a fun-filled tribute to the schlocky slasher movies of the ‘80s — provides just as much entertainment as the gameplay, and first-rate talent is on display both in front of and behind the camera. Dana Plato (Diff’rent Strokes) plays a key role as a S.C.A.T. agent, while future Oscar-nominee Don Burgess (Forrest Gump, Spider-Man) handles the cinematography.
