Are Nintendo working on a nextgen console?

The Wii-U has become something of a Dreamcast 2.0.

I think it´s about time that Nintendo crawls to the cross and admits the failure of the Wii-U. Cuz let´s face it. Everyone is talking about it. The video game media, the industry, the retailers and the players (consumers). Just about everyone understands that the Wii-U are a big failure, except Nintendo themselves.

Me, i was very sceptical from the very start. Especially due the fact that Nintendo once again chosed to make the least powerfull console on the market. I mean, what´s the point of releaseing a console that´s based on technology that was the shit back in 2006-2007?

That´s just stupidity beyond my understanding. And thanks to this stupid decision. Nintendo will have no chooise but to abandon the Wii-U, admit failure, suck it up and move on with a new console. Because that´s THE only way that Nintendo can turn the tables around.

Because they can´t stick to a console that´s dieing. Even the developers are leaving the sinking Wii-U ship. So i actually believe that the roumers about a new Nintendo console (nextgen) are true. Cuz that´s the only way that Nintendo can survive on the console market.

But what do you guys think? Have Nintendo really been working on a new Nintendo console since last year?

Anyway, Nintendo apparently started working on a new platform in early 2013 and has already selected a vendor for the SoC after talking to several potential candidates. The SoC might be based on an existing design, but will be changed to fit Nintendo’s requirements. I assume it’s for their next handheld, though.” - NeoGAF user wsippel
