True Detective - The dark side of Louisiana

true detective
One of the better police/detective shows imo.

It´s been a very, very long time since i watched any crime solving tv-series. Mainly because most of the new made tv-shows bored me to hell. But it was also a matter of good Vs bad scripts and acting. Take Miami Vice for example.

That´s a really epic crime solving show imo. And of course, it´s also very important to have good and colorful characters in the show (which Miami Vice had). But i might just have found a new-made tv-series that fulfills all those criterias.

I´m talking about HBO´s show "True Detective", which stars Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey (they play as two Louisiana State Police Detectives). I mean, not only does True Detective have a average score of 9.5/10 via Imdb.com

It´s also one of the very few tv-shows that i actually wanna watch asap. But i don´t know if True Detective will be aired in Sweden anytime soon...

About True Detective:
"In 2012, Louisiana State Police Detectives Rust Cohle and Martin Hart are brought in to revisit a homicide case they worked in 1995. As the inquiry unfolds in present day through separate interrogations, the two former detectives narrate the story of their investigation, reopening unhealed wounds, and drawing into question their supposed solving of a bizarre ritualistic murder in 1995. The timelines braid and converge in 2012 as each man is pulled back into a world they believed they'd left behind. In learning about each other and their killer, it becomes clear that darkness lives on both sides of the law.

Written and created by Nic Pizzolatto ('The Killing') and directed by Cary Fukunaga ('Sin Nombre,' 'Jane Eyre'), 'True Detective' stars Woody Harrelson as Martin Hart and Matthew McConaughey as Rust Cohle. The series also stars Michelle Monaghan (‘Mission: Impossible III') as Maggie, Hart's wife; Kevin Dunn ('Veep') as Major Quesada, the supervising officer in 1995; and Tory Kittles ('Sons of Anarchy') and Michael Potts ('The Wire') as Dets. Papania and Gilbough, the investigators now probing Hart and Cohle for answers."

Sam Raimi will produce the The Last Of Us movie

the last of us
I sure hope that Sam Raimi won´t mess this up...

Christ...here we go again. Another video game that will be turned into a movie. And we all know how that usually ends. Need a reminder? Let me see now. Doom, Double Dragon, Street Fighter, Super Mario Bros. The list goes on and on with epic fail movies.

The only decent (imo) video game movies (to date). Would be the Resident Evil and Tomb Raider series. So yeah, i´m some what sceptical about Sam Raimi´s plans on making a movie based on Naughty Dog´s epic game "The Last of Us".

I mean, i don´t have anything against Raimi. Cuz i love Spider-Man 1-3, and Evil Dead 1-3. But Raimi dropped the World of Warcraft movie after all. So he might drop The Last of Us movie as well. But IF the movie really happens.

Will it then be worthy of the name "The Last of Us"? Time will tell...

Zomblicity - A animated zombie series

zomblicity
TWD, the animated series? Well, kind of.

I'm most likely not the only person that´s happy over the fact that The Walking Dead are back again. But let's be honest. Wouldn't it be nice to watch a animated zombie series as well? I think so at least. And luckily enough, my prayers seems to have been heard.

Cuz there really are a animed zombie series in the making. And it´s called "Zomblicity". The trailer sure made me wanna see more! And from what i've have heard. The Zomblicity series will launch sometime in the near future.

About Zomblicity:
"The real world is in for a shock as the zombie dimension smashes through.

We are pleased to announce that we've started working on a pilot script for an Animated Series, and over the coming months we'll be working with a very talented team of creatives in order to get something out soon. Keep your eyes open as pretty soon those Zombies will be popping out of the comic world and into ours, forever. Readers will recognise characters from the comics and the story will run parallel, but not identical (just to keep you on your toes)"

Godzilla - The king of monsters are back in business again

godzilla
Guess who´s back?

There are so many darn Godzilla movies. Honestly, i have lost count. But the Godzilla movie from 1998. Are really, really bad (5.2/10 via Imdb). And sadly enough, i pretty much lost interest in Godzilla after that movie. So the years just went by, and i didn´t think that much about Godzilla anymore.

But then out of nowhere, came this new made Godzilla movie (which will be released on the 18th of May this year). And yes, i have seen the trailer. But i don´t really know what to think of it. Sure, it´s rather powerfull. But so was the trailer for the 1998 version of Godzilla.

That´s also why i´m not going to get all "over excited" this time. Cuz the last time, i was really disappointed when i saw the new Godzilla movie. But hopefully, Godzilla 2014 won´t be just as bad as Godzilla 1998...

About Godzilla:
"An epic rebirth to Toho's iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures, pits the world's most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity's scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence."

300 Rise of an Empire - The slaughterfest continues

300 rise of an empire
Something tells me that she´s a natural born killer.

The first 300 movie was pretty decent imo. It was not epic, but it sure was full of memorable scenes and dialogs. So that makes one wonder if Zack Snyder (Dawn of the Dead, 300, Sucker Punch) and Gianni Nunnari (From Dusk Till Dawn 1-3, 300, Immortals) , can pull off the same trick again?

Or more important so. Will they be able to make the 300 Rise of an Empire feel freash and new. Or will it just be 300 v2.0? (same, same but different). Well, Warners Bros has released 5 different trailers for Rise of an Empire so far.

And judging by the trailers. The movie at least seems to be full of action. But i guess that we have to wait until the release (which would be on the 7th of March) to find out whether the movie sucks or not.

About 300 Rise of an Empire:
"Based on Frank Miller's latest graphic novel Xerxes, and told in the breathtaking visual style of the blockbuster "300," this new chapter of the epic saga takes the action to a fresh battlefield—on the sea—as Greek general Themistokles attempts to unite all of Greece by leading the charge that will change the course of the war.

300: Rise of an Empire" pits Themistokles against the massive invading Persian forces led by mortal-turned-god Xerxes, and Artemesia, vengeful commander of the Persian navy.

Warner Bros. Picture presents, in association with Legendary Pictures, a Cruel and Unusual Films/Mark Canton/Gianni Nunnari Production, "300: Rise of an Empire." The action adventure stars Sullivan Stapleton ("Gangster Squad") as Themistokles and Eva Green ("Dark Shadows," "Casino Royale") as Artemesia. Lena Headey reprises her starring role from "300" as the Spartan Queen, Gorgo; Hans Matheson ("Clash of the Titans") stars as Aeskylos; and Rodrigo Santoro stars again as the Persian King, Xerxes."

Guardians of the Galaxy - Marvel + Vin Diesel = True!

guardians of the galaxy
Hmm, i wonder when Guardians of the Galaxy will be released in Sweden?

There seems to be no end to the ever ending lineup of Marvel movies. Honestly, i have lost count of all the Marvel inspired movies that´s been release over the past 6-7 years. Some of them are really good though, so i don´t complain.

But ever time i hear about a new Marvel movie. I just think for myself "Will it be something that i haven't already seen a million times before. Or will it really be something new?". And i´m having that same exact thought right now.

Cuz just in case you haven't heard it already. "Guardians of the Galaxy" are set for a release this summer (The 1th of August in the States). Me, it caught my eye because Vin Diesel and Zoe Saldana stars in it (im a big fan of both of them).

And due the fact that James Gunn (Lollipop Chainsaw, Dawn of the Dead, Thor: The Dark World) and Kevin Feige (The X-Men movies, Iron Man 1-3, Spider-Man 1-3) are working on Guardians of the Galaxy.

The movie might actually become really great in the end. I guess that we have to wait for the summer to find out. But until then, enjoy the trailer!

About Guardians of the Galaxy:
"From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team—the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel's “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe.

To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits—Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand—with the galaxy's fate in the balance."
